Air filter box upgrades?

Of all the myriad upgrades for Jeeps there are out there, has anyone come up with a new/better air filter box for those of us who do some maintenance things ourselves and want it to be a little easier? My old Dakotas had a nice clasp system (not unlike the clasps that hold the hoods closed on the Wranglers/Gladiators) that was fast and easy to use.

Anymore they use cheap, chintzy, often difficult to remove/install screws, which is annoying frankly. Maybe it holds the box closed tighter or something, but whatever.

So, short story long, has anyone found a replacement to the screws, or even the whole airbox, that makes sense and is easier to get open and closed?

Same goes for the plastic engine covers, I been searching for thumb screws. Seems like BS to have to use a socket set to pull a piece of plastic of an engine.

A little trick I use is to put the screw into the hole, then using a hand-held nut driver, slowly turn the screw counter-clockwise until you feel a slight 'click', then carefully tighten. This helps line up the threads in the plastic hole with the screw threads. I started doing this on my old 2019 Audi Allroad that had something like 10 screws holding the air box together.

But, you're right about the screws on the factory air box - they are a PITA.

I am looking into options for changing the airbox also. The airbox hangs deep and actually was in the way when we installed a new suspension system. We modified the current plastic box for now, but will be creating a new custom system. I have seen the other replacement boxes that others have posted above, but they are the basic same depth and use the same 2 plastic nipple mounts on the bottom. Interesting but woof on the price!

That's actually an average price for an aftermarket system like this. Check e-Bay or Amazon. You might find a lower price. But, I would personally stick with one of the more well known brands (i.e. K&N, Air Raid, S&B, etc.), because they're usually better-engineered. If you were to ever have a problem where your aftermarket filter system allows dirt, etc. into your intake and damages your engine, that's no bueno for repairs under your warranty.

Can't comment on that specific intake, but I will say Hauk is a local company for me (in my town), and they are some of the nicest people you'll meet. I chatted with their machinist for about an hour at a car show last year. They drive a nice Bronco around town, and they have a bunch of jeeps too.

Kinda not sure I want to replace the whole system including type of filter. (Mainly because I just bought a few extra filters)

Thanks for the replies so far! I supposed I was just asking if anyone’s heard of a revised closure system that replaces the screws.

Actually i was looking at this last week. I changed out my hood latches and i was going to use the stock ones to try to attach them to the air box. My old ram had something like that. I added it to my summer to-do list.
