Another question....what is the optimal air-down psi?

I regularly run my 37x12.50-17 Ridge Grapplers at 15psi. This is on 8.5” wide wheels.

Same here. I have heard you can go as low as 10 without bead locks, but I'm not interested in pushing it.

Depends on the terrain, weight of vehicle and contents, weather/environment and driving skill.

Just ordered a set of Staun standard duty tire deflaters. Hitting the beach in a few weeks!

I did a diy deflate/inflate system. I don't recall how much $ I put into it...slightly under the Speedflate system.

Deflates a 4 oem rubicon tires at once in 2 minutes and 25 seconds (35 psi to 18 psi). Inflates with a Harbor Freight pump in 12 minutes and 30 seconds

Used these for years. Been great and very easy. Screw them on and walk off as they reuce pressure to presets.

We used similar things like this when I worked on NASCAR late models to equalize the pressure build-up from heat (hot air expands). They were great, in theory. There were many instances where people lost positions and even races because they get stuck open, no matter how clean they are.

No big deal for off-roading, since you can take them off the stems, etc. and you usually have a compressor to re-air. But remember that you're introducing another item that requires maintenance.
