Alternative toppers/shell's for the Gladiator

There are undoubtedly many of us out there that just want a simple shell without spending upwards of $4000 hard-earned dollars. Or alternatively taking the time to build or modify something to work.
There are some amazing guys with tremendous fabrication skills displayed on this forum and others have done loads of research into the prospects of overland designs. It would be great to place some of the simpler solutions in one place for reference.

It looks like three likely toppers out there first is the Toyota crew cab 5-foot bed, Ford currier, and the colorado. We know the colorado tonneau cover fits.

I kind of like it. Looks utilitarian.
Last I checked the alucab topper was $3500 before shipping. I think the manufacturers are enjoying the windfall while they can. New toppers for similar size trucks are more in the $2000 range.

Just for context, I ordered a pretty nice color-matched ARE CX Classic for $2,800 all in. I would have only considered something not custom fit if it cost less than half of that.

I agree. Looking at ads online, used toppers are going pretty inexpensively. usually only several hundred.

A $1400 bed cap would sell like hotcakes. Bestop twill soft topper is $1200.

Soft toppers are a cheaper option. Three brands I know about currently: Softtopper, Supertop for Trucks 2 by Bestop and coming soon Outlander by Agri-Cover.
