Well I couldn’t help myself. Went ahead and ordered the alucab 3r from avo as well. Decided the setup and tear down was worth it. And will just sell the ikamper to cover most of the price of the alucab.

Would someone with the alucab tent and low profile bars be able to measure the distance from the top of their hardtop to the underside of the tent for me at the lowest point? I have the rhino rack pioneer on my hardtop currently and wondering if the tent will clear the mounts. I’m ok losing the rack but I don’t really want to have buy a new hardtop after just paying for all this.


Bonus points if anyone wants a free rhino rack with backbone I’ll give it to whoever wants it with a trade for their hardtop back portion in good condition. Also includes a hot heads head liner mounted back there.

Couple of measurements because the curvature of the hard top:
1. Middle of the hardtop to tent support beam = 1.25in
2. Middle left to t slot for mounting = 1.75in (4 inches in from the edge of the tent)
3. Edge to edge = 3.25in

Couldn’t find any molle panels that would work well with the m8 track on the ceiling of the canopy so I made my own. Decided on a modular system that piece seamlessly together, could configure just 1 or 6 (can run 2 wide) to cover the entire ceiling. Made from high grade aluminum, laser cut and powder coated. I choose Olive Grab but could do other colors or black.

I already mounted up my ARB single compressor using the 1/4in slots. Gives all kinds of flexible to configure the canopy how you want.

Sorta testing the waters of selling them. Curious if anyone in this forum would be interested in purchasing?

Interested in the roof panels. How much does each segment weigh?

Tough to say how much right now but probably between $150 to $200 per panel (stainless steel hardware included) - really just depends on how many people get in on the order

They are very light - under 3lbs each

Sorry I meant the doors of the canopy. I have those avl jeep doors molles and regret them. Everything rattles

Has anyone mounted another companies awning to their gen 3, 3.1, or 3r using the alucab mounting brackets ? Just trying to decide if I really want shell the money for the shadow awning or find a way to make our ovs 270 from our previous rack work

Was it my imagination or did someone remove the third brake like and add a light bar type chase light back there ? We get normal rain but there are time it gets so dusty on the trail you might as well put a blindfold on and wanting to make sure I keep my chase light on the cap

The electric locks I ordered from Canopy Locks arrived today from Australia. It looks like they switched to a metal drill template so hopefully the misalignment issues others have posted have been corrected.

Nice. My order arrived about six months ago and the box is still sitting on the shelf. I need to do the install this fall. Please keep us updated as you install, I am going to need all the tips and tricks possible.
