Has anyone out there come across an ammo can mount for the trail rails? Just a standard sized ammo can. I’ve been looking and haven’t come across one yet. You can DIY one by just popping some holes and reinforcing with washers or a backing plate but was wondering if anyone has seen an L bracket or something of that nature that distributes the weight better.

I haven't seen one - but you can use the online design tool at Send Cut Send to make one probably.

That’s an option. I have “a few” ammo cans of various sizes I like to put to use on the trail. Need to recoat a few of them but they’re all serviceable for tool rolls or spare parts and stuff. Like these lil guys here.

Maybe a couple of these through an ammo can into the factory rail with as @ChrisNLA said send something off to SGS to fab? A simple L-bracket should suffice.
Those are some good looking nuts!! 😂

Really though thanks for posting that link. I’ve been looking for affordable attachment points for the bed rails that look good. I’ve seen a lot of the plain Jane silver ones but nothing painted or anodized that is within a reasonable price range. They don’t really have to be “pretty” but there’s a pride element to it.

I think there's al lot of missed opportunities for storage solutions with the rails.

It’s a convenient thing for me with the bedcap and the side doors. So many times I’ve just wanted to be able to pop the door and reach in and grab a tool or something. As it stand now I have to put the rear door up, open the tailgate, then roll the toolbox forward just to grab something simple like a zip tie. I’m already planning on going to a SafeJack in an ammo can so having another mounted beside it gives me the option to have smaller grab and go stuff available. I may even try to mount the ones pictured above as a standing system with smaller shelves inside for small stuff. Not sure yet. I’ll figure it out but, yes, I agree the bed rails could totally be utilized much more efficiently than I’m currently doing. I’ve always used ammonia cans off-road too. Very under appreciated storage solution for some things.

Ammo cans definitely have their place. I've got tons of them with everything from plumbing fittings to... ammo.

Funny how the pursuit of organizing my crap always creates its own more expensive problems...
