Hi All,

Looking for some suggestions on what I can use to secure and help route my antenna cable. I am running it down from a bed mount along the bed wall i.e. between the best and the cab. The along the frame\factory rock slider then up through the firewall.

Midland says don't use zip ties as they will damage the cable. So I was thinking the self adhesive cable tie or the Velcro loop. The problem is I do not think they will hold up.

Thanks in advance.

You can use zipties just don’t cinch them down so much that they pinch/crush the cable.

You can run the cable inside the frame all the way from the front bed wall to the engine compartment where it will be protected and won’t need to be tied down, except for where it enters and exits the frame.

I like this idea.
Me too. I have some of the automotive mesh tubing I was planning on using to provide some additional protection until I read this. Not sure how durable this is but it seems like it would offer an extra layer of h20 and abrasion protection.

Yup - there is a nice channel where the rock rails attach that I can pass the cable through most of the way to the engine bay.

Whenever I see people recommending running inside the frame, I have to think - what if you ever have to lift the cab off the frame? Lots of classes of repairs (especially diesel) start with that.

Cut the cable and either splice on some connectors when it’s time to go back together OR just run a cable.

In that case your coax will be the least of your worries.

Zip ties are fine. As noted before, don't pull them bubba tight.

Every piece of coax I have even installed, either mobile or base station has been secured with zip ties at some point.

I will do my best lol! Currently I need to drill some holes in the mxt575 mounting plate so I can attach it to the CMM Offroad universal mount.
