I was in the same boat so I'll run you through my build and issues. BTW, I'm one of those guys that if you ask them to tell you the time, they end up telling you how to build a watch... In any event, I hoe it helps. If nothing else, it has reminded me of what a fun journey this has been.

I started with the stock Rubicon:

Ten days later It had 1.5" Teraflex spacer front and 1/2" rear:

Then I started planning more long term as started looking at the Clayton 2.5 lift, Fox 2.5's , wheels, and tires and it was just too much to bite off at once. Plus I had to add the Rockslide Engineering steps so my wife wouldn't notice the truck growing:). I ended up getting the shocks and Clayton lift with the Fox 2.0 Performance Series shocks (and of course the rock sliders) and running my stock Rubicon wheels and Wildpeak MT's. It actually didn't look too bad like that, and I was able to wheel with other Gladiators that had 35's and spacers. They drug more than I did!

A few months later I added 37" BFG MT's on my stock wheels with Teraflex 1.75" wheel spacers. I went with the BFG's because they ran a little small and were the lightest out there (Both I thought would be better for performance since I wasn't regearing). That wasn't terrible, but the BFG's sucked in the cold, snow, and ice (I'm in Minnesota). I actually really liked the look, but didn't like the BFG's and knew running the 12.5's on the stock rims wasn't the best long term.

I end up dumping the BFG's on for the 37" MT Baja Boss AT's , which look quite a bit bigger compared to the BFG's. They are awesome and I'll buy them again next time. They look like and act like MT off-road, but perform like and AT the other 98% of the time I use them. I mounted then on Kansei Roku wheels. I actually caught the wheels on sale for about $150 each and they are awesome as well. They are light, and I ended up with a larger looking tire and wheel combo that weighed a little less than my factory wheel, spacer, and BFG's.

The only change I would make is that I would have gone with the 3.5" lift. You always think it's tall enough, or that the tire is big enough, until is isn't. If you are absolutely sticking with the 35's, the the 2.5" lift (actual 3.25" on my Rubicon) lift should be perfect. Also note that I went with the 3.5" - 4" lift shocks. I errored on the side of not over-extending the shock and that has work great regardless of my later changes.

The only issue I've had with this setup was that I developed a slight sag on the passenger side, so I'm currently running a Teraflex 1" spacer on the passenger & .5" on the drivers side. I could have just thrown the 1/2" spacer on the passenger side, but I liked to look of when I was running the smaller tire on the standard lift and there was a little more space between the tire and fender, so both sides changed. I'm kind of thinking the back needs to come up a smidge, but like I said earlier, it's never quite right. Others probably think it looks stupid, but I'm driving this one...

I spoke with @Clayton Off Road and they acknowledged that it was 'normal' and not related to their springs. I've read that the issue exists on other lifts and stock as well, so I don't know if the issue is with the Clayton springs or not, but not totally happy with that answer. I'll eventually change the front springs. I'm not sure I'll go with @Clayton Off Road springs, but the rest of the lift is solid. Whoever I get the springs from will have to guarantee that it will not sag!

Before 1/2" spacer:

After 1/2" spacer (and my wife says 1/2" doesn't matter!):

Why I dumped the BFG's:

Thanks for all the info and eye candy!! Nice looking rig too! I have added several things as well over the last year to mine and now every bump on the trail I am bottoming out and just in general the suspension sucks so really looking forward to getting a lift on mine here soon.
I decided to go with the 392 bronze wheels, I really like the look of those and not completely decided on 35s but do like a narrower tire so going to try an 11.5" wide.

Anyhow I think the 2.5 inch lift will be perfect for what I need and sounds like the foxs 2.0s will be a good fit. Again thanks for taking the time to share all that!

Great looking truck and I love that wheel! It's going to look great with the Sarge Green! If you're running 11.5's then an interim step could be mounting them on the factory wheels. The 37" BFG's run a little narrower and shorter than the MT's (and most 37's). They weren't bad on the factory wheels, in fact I really like the look. They are a good compromise between 35's and a true 37's and they'd be a better choice in AZ than in MN.

Good luck with the build and feel free to reach out if you have any questions along the way.

Clayton is not wrong about the sag. From factory our trucks have a lower passenger side than driver side so that when you have weight from a full fuel tank and driver, the drivers side is supposed to drop down to level. For whatever reason it's more apparent on some trucks than others, so most people don't even notice it. Some lifts provide a small spacer to use on the passenger side for this very reason.

It's also not exclusive to the Gladi. The Tacoma crowd has even dubbed it the Taco Lean. My Tacoma TRD Pro had a slight lean, and my stock suspension Rubi diesel it's noticeable enough it drives me up a wall.

That's what I've read on various fourms as well. I believed the guys at Clayton, I just don't like the answer:). What I did leveled it up so I doesn't drive me crazy anymore. I'll eventually swap the springs but that has more to do with the fact that I want the height coming from the springs and not a spacer, but may have to keep the 1/2" spacer on the passenger side.

Hey there!

Always happy to help out with a discount if a customer is regretting not going with a different size lift!

To your point about the 1/2" sag though, I know somebody else already pointed it out in here, but it is unfortunately true that from the factory all of the JTs lean about a 1/2", and even if a company made the spring 1/2" taller on that one side, it tends to start leaning the other way depending on if the gas tank is full or empty, so its unfortunately a lose lose there. Your Jeep looks great though, I'm happy you were able to get it dialed in the way you like!

Thanks for reaching out. I'm not surprised because you guys have been great to work with and have been very supportive of our forum. Like I said, I wasn't questioning your original answer, I just didn't like it.

I'll reach out to you when it warms up a bit here and I can swap out the springs.

Thanks!

I’m in the process of gathering parts planning on your Sam setup. Also have a garage being built on my property. Any chance you’d be able to tell me how tall it sits ground to roof? Trying to decide if I wait for the new garage or if it’ll still fit in the old one with everything on it.
