Awesome! I'm really excited to try a custom tuned shock to see how muck difference they really make.

Agreed. I was originally going to order from Quadratec but having custom tuned shocks for my truck is a no brainer. John/Jon from Accutune was super helpful.

I haven't. I just got a call from them verifying my setup last Thursday so they expect they will ship this week.

Updating in case anyone follows this later.

I got my shocks last week from Accutune and finally got my shocks installed last night, so thought I’d leave a quick update.

Front install was straightforward. The front reservoir installation is pretty well defined in the instructions. The only thing I did differently was to flip the bracket. The instructions show the bracket with the bolts towards the back of the truck and the bracket part towards the front. This made the line between the shock and reservoir a little tight for my liking. I flipped the bracket, and all was well.

I did the fronts first and drove it around the block and could definitely tell the difference between the front and back. Mostly on the smaller bumps and expansion joint type bumps. It was kind of like ‘thud’ then ‘kick’ between the front and rear hitting the same bump. That encouraged me to get the rears done last night as well.

The rear shocks come fully extended (at least from Accutune) so you'll need to droop the suspension on each side to make the install a little easier. Mine was made more difficult since I'm currently only running a 3/4" spacer in the back and the shocks are for my new Clayton 2.5” lift which is getting installed next week. Not ideal, but I wanted to get a feel for the difference before and after the lift.

Overall, the new shocks are much smoother over smaller bumps and expansion joint type bumps, but not what I'd call soft. Kind of just right. You really don’t notice the small bumps but having driven over them since I bought the truck, you do notice that they are not noticeable now. On the harder bumps, like potholes, I didn't think there was as dramatic a difference, but the truck felt more stable with significantly less reverberation in the suspension. Cornering seems flatter with a little less body roll than before.

I’ll give an update after the lift is installed and they are working in their optimal range of motion.

OP,

Any update on what you think? Also, curious which tune you opted for as Accutune says they have three standard options (Adventure, Dual Sport and Trail).

Thanks in advance.

Glad you reminded me to give an update. I completely spaced it.

I went with the Adventure tune factoring in the Clayton 2.5" lift, 37's, steel bumpers, Rockslide Engineering slides (very heavy), bed rack and tent.

Longer term review from my initial comments, I felt the ripples were fine, but pothole type bumps were harsh with my factory Falken Wildpeak 33" MT's. I finally got my 37's (BFG KM3 MT's) and it finally feel like what I wanted. The tire takes up the harshness and I love the setup.

The things I like about it is that it corners great without much body roll or dip when braking. It is still not 'soft'. It still has a firm ride, but no harsh. It feels very stable for being lifted on such tall tires.

Hope this helps.

Thank you! I am debating whether to go with these shocks or not. Lots of people seem to like them and say the money is worth it. I appreciate you helping me decide, this is very helpful info.

Still happy with them? Have you gotten them offroad?

Now that it’s been a few years do you still like your shock choice? Have they been going strong over the last few years, any complaints? Thinking of going with this set up as well. Thanks

I have about 40k miles on them and they are going strong. I've run them on rough, washboarded dirt roads, off road technical trails, and long highway miles and they've performed great in all conditions.

Sine I got them from Accutune, I can send them in to be re-valved when they need it (once for free). If you don't want to mess around with adjustable shocks, then I think they are a great option for the money.

I highly recommend going through @AccuTune Off-Road. You order them to best fit how you use your truck and they send them valved for that purpose. Then you bolt them on and don't think about it again.

Good luck with you choice.

Awesome good to hear! I’ve heard good things about getting the shocks tuned through accutune so definitely planning on that. I’m also planning on the Clayton 2.5 lift but with 35s. Any complaints with their lift or things you’d change with your set up?

I was originally thinking of the adjustable fox 2.5 shocks and crying once for everything but from what I’ve been reading and hearing from accutune that might not be the best set up and these 2.0 are probably the way to go. Any regrets not getting the adjustable shocks?

I was in the same boat so I'll run you through my build and issues. BTW, I'm one of those guys that if you ask them to tell you the time, they end up telling you how to build a watch... In any event, I hoe it helps. If nothing else, it has reminded me of what a fun journey this has been.

I started with the stock Rubicon:

Ten days later It had 1.5" Teraflex spacer front and 1/2" rear:

Then I started planning more long term as started looking at the Clayton 2.5 lift, Fox 2.5's , wheels, and tires and it was just too much to bite off at once. Plus I had to add the Rockslide Engineering steps so my wife wouldn't notice the truck growing:). I ended up getting the shocks and Clayton lift with the Fox 2.0 Performance Series shocks (and of course the rock sliders) and running my stock Rubicon wheels and Wildpeak MT's. It actually didn't look too bad like that, and I was able to wheel with other Gladiators that had 35's and spacers. They drug more than I did!

Mine is on the right:

A few months later I added 37" BFG MT's on my stock wheels with Teraflex 1.75" wheel spacers. I went with the BFG's because they ran a little small and were the lightest out there (Both I thought would be better for performance since I wasn't regearing). That wasn't terrible, but the BFG's sucked in the cold, snow, and ice (I'm in Minnesota). I actually really liked the look, but didn't like the BFG's and knew running the 12.5's on the stock rims wasn't the best long term.

BFG 37's on factory wheels with spacers:

Same, just cool pic:

I end up dumping the BFG's on for the 37" MT Baja Boss AT's , which look quite a bit bigger compared to the BFG's. They are awesome and I'll buy them again next time. They look like and act like MT off-road, but perform like and AT the other 98% of the time I use them. I mounted then on Kansei Roku wheels. I actually caught the wheels on sale for about $150 each and they are awesome as well. They are light, and I ended up with a larger looking tire and wheel combo that weighed a little less than my factory wheel, spacer, and BFG's.

The only change I would make is that I would have gone with the 3.5" lift. You always think it's tall enough, or that the tire is big enough, until is isn't. If you are absolutely sticking with the 35's, the the 2.5" lift (actual 3.25" on my Rubicon) lift should be perfect. Also note that I went with the 3.5" - 4" lift shocks. I errored on the side of not over-extending the shock and that has work great regardless of my later changes.

The only issue I've had with this setup was that I developed a slight sag on the passenger side, so I'm currently running a Teraflex 1" spacer on the passenger & .5" on the drivers side. I could have just thrown the 1/2" spacer on the passenger side, but I liked to look of when I was running the smaller tire on the standard lift and there was a little more space between the tire and fender, so both sides changed. I'm kind of thinking the back needs to come up a smidge, but like I said earlier, it's never quite right. Others probably think it looks stupid, but I'm driving this one...

I spoke with @Clayton Off Road and they acknowledged that it was 'normal' and not related to their springs. I've read that the issue exists on other lifts and stock as well, so I don't know if the issue is with the Clayton springs or not, but not totally happy with that answer. I'll eventually change the front springs. I'm not sure I'll go with @Clayton Off Road springs, but the rest of the lift is solid. Whoever I get the springs from will have to guarantee that it will not sag!

Before 1/2" spacer:

After 1/2" spacer (and my wife says 1/2" doesn't matter!):

Why I dumped the BFG's:
