They probably had to raise prices to cover manufacturing and installing that new bracket behind the passenger front tire to prevent rollovers. Just kidding, some of the board members needed the bump in pay to buy their wives Teslas

Where did you see the word "shocker"?
This was just FYI for anyone considering buying now, new or nearly new vs waiting for the 23's, which are apt to be another +9-10%.
Pro tip: It ain't the value of the product that's going up, it's value of your money that's going down.
Received.

You statedā€¦ā€ Perhaps this has been covered elsewhere and I missed it, but I was browsing some new inventory my local dealer just got in and everything's looking about 10-12% higher than it was last month or so.

My 21 Mojave came with just about everything you can get on one and last Fall's sticker was about $62k.

Some of these new models are coming in with fewer options and they're stickered at $66k.

I guess with all other costs continuing to skyrocket in this economy it's not too surprising, but it's seems like a switch was flipped almost overnight.ā€

What I’m saying as this shouldn’t come or have come as a surprise with what’s going on.

ā€œPro tip: It ain't the value of the product that's going up, it's value of your money that's going down.ā€

…while there’s truth in this statement, don’t think for a second they won’t bump pricing ā€˜just because’ in the presents of a catastrophe. They can blame one on the other.

9-10%?
Your 44.6 base price is missing $2500 worth of options that are standard in MY22. You're comparing 44.6 to 49 when you should be comparing 47 to 49. Prices went up 4%, not double that.

That particular quote was referring to the potential increases for the 2023 stickers, and the last sentence in that statement attempts to explain the reason without getting into political waters.
What MAY push those numbers back down slightly would be future financing rates and continued increases in fuel costs, rendering the more thirsty vehicles as less desirable.
I've already seen some market predictions indicating that we're only about halfway through the fuel price thing.

Yeah man I’m waiting on the 23 orders to open up. Right now what I want stickers at $68,430. I’ll go through Gupton so it will be less but with the rising prices and no real improvements, for example it’s still uconnect4 That was released in 2017….so I’m looking at least 62 ish k (through Gupton) BEFORE another 10-15 k in just parts like a decent lift, wheels and tires, a winch and other miscellaneous stuff. So as much as I want a JT it is really getting towards the limit of what I think it’s worth.

Factoring in a current 8.6% inflation rate, the base price goes to $48,506 and the total price goes to $67,576 on the 2021 numbers. Those 2022 numbers shown are not that unexpected.
I know - it's funny to see this type of thing while no one is complaining about the fact milk went up over a buck a gallon recently - imagine trying to feed a family with 2 or 3 kids now. People are having to get to and from work with the gas prices what they are, diesel prices are making everything jump - and the comments are about vehicle prices, which aren't rising nearly as much as many other things.

Yeah, the prices are going up. So? So are necessities.
The thing about vehicle prices going up - no one HAS to buy one of these - there's no requirement, but some other stuff? Not so lucky there.

Anyone who hasn't already seen or heard of these prices going up is either in a coma, dead, or can't read or see the news. (or hasn't read the several other posts about the prices of these shooting up.
Several of us have even shown the differences between the price we ordered at vs the sticker price when it's built.

No news. Everyone who has ever bought a new vehicle knows the prices for the next model year will be higher. It's a given.

Sticker to sticker:

Seat Group +17%
Trailer Tow Pkg +40%
Cold Weather Group +20%
Aux Switch Group +14%
Front Camera +17%
LED Light Group +9%

To name a few
Also not always a straight comparison as if you look at the order guide, the packages may even change from year to year.
The reason for the tow package to jump on a 2021 Grand Cherokee was that it included a matching spare! It didn't the year before. So you can't say it's apples to apples when the group or package changes.
A couple of those also include larger batteries - the prices of batteries has really jumped, so Jeep has to pay more for the larger batteries than before and is passing that along.

I don’t see where the shocker is. During a normal year to year there’s usually a price modification. It’s been common knowledge from late summer early fall last year that interest rates were forecasted to go up, supply and demand issues were (and continue to be) an exponential problem and the economy was (still is) going to shit. There should be no surprise here.

When I made the final decision to get my 21 JTRD, I was working on a Saturday and was watching finance rates bump up .25% per half day. It took me 2 days to find what ended up being a unicorn here in Florida. The next closest inventory matching or coming close to what I was looking for was in N. Carolina. If I had ordered and it took 2-3 mos to come in I would have had a substantially higher payment due to the rates. As it turned out, the interest rate fluctuations I was seeing were due to speculation of the FED increasing rates, which didn’t actually become a thing until early 2022 where it was stated that there would be at least 6 consecutive bumps of unknown increments.

Where this trend reverses itself who knows. I feel we’re far from the bottom. Should you buy…only you can answer that question. Will pricing come back down…doubtful any time soon.
Boycott, yes Boycott. August 1st 2022 don't buy, order or even go on the lots to look at a Gladiator.
Do this for 30 days. The 23's will have been ordered and are being prepared to be shipped.
Unless you have a total or a lease turn in. Don't go to the dealers. 30 days. Watch what will happen. Don't look, or buy a Jeep in that period and Stellantis will be falling over themselves to offer incentives.

Congratulations on rallying probably maybe 3 people together to implement your plan.

And this isn't counting the "market adjustment" increases that dealers are still tacking on to (especially) electric and fuel efficient models. My post regarding the Wrangler 4xe lease referenced a market correction of +$5000 and our recent MDX search saw some dealers forcing mandatory dealer-installed "shock" alarms for $1995 to protect against thieves smashing windows. :CWL:

I'm going to say this very carefully - as an Economics undergrad, I'm hoping this inflationary period is relatively temporary as there ways we as citizens of the United States can correct internal (and external) forces that cause these inflationary periods to begin with. :movember:
