Is anyone here subscribing to UConnect service?

I bought a Ford F350 and have the Ford Sync of which I was delighted to find that the remote start/stop in thier app is complementary for life. My son also goes to school remotely due to the COVID issues and I got the AT&T 4G/LTE service hotspot for a reasonable $20/month to allow him to connect to his school and do Zooms on our long trips. I love it.

I just bought a JT Gladiator Rubicon, and the sales guy ran through the services. You get UConnect for free for 1 year to simply remote start/stop, then its a $15/month subscription. I then find out that it has hotspot capabilities in 3G only, then its $49.99 per month! For 3G?? Thats more than my cell phone plan with unlimited data! Needless to say, I looked at the sales guy and said "Seriously? You guys couldn't compete with Ford?". He looked away and said "I know... Chrysler really needs to fix that."

I love my JT. Its fun, but I have found that their UConnect subscription is crazy priced and the hotspot is even more. Do I need remote start/stop from the phone? Not really as the FOB seems to be fine for that and I don't expect to have to start/stop the vehicle from far away. 3G for $49.99 sucks. But I can always tether to my cell phone. But it makes me wonder why they charge so much. Not to mention, the UConnect is horribly slow, where the Ford sync is near instant.

Having the service isn't a deal breaker for me as there are ways around it. But the Ford Bronco cometh soon and I can see people who are on the fence on a Bronco vs Jeep where the amenities of the services could be the deciding factor.

Anyone here actually subscribing to the service?

I am on the free trial period ...

Ill drop it like a lead balloon as soon as it is over ... Super slow, lagging information, WAY OVERPRICED.

And who ever needs to start their car from far away ? If you need your car, you are close to it ...

The whole thing is sloppy and out of touch if you ask me ...

Yep...I totally agree. The only time I use the iPhone app is when I have to get something from my vehicle and I left the keys in the house. My phone is always on my person, so I just whip it out and unlock it (after a horribly long 30 second delay).

But that convenience is not worth the price. The Ford is free, so its a nice thing to have and semi-convenient.

So the service is through ATT and the plans they Qoute are cheaper and you get all that info in the free trial not sure why the uconnect site says something else

Do you have a link for it? I am seeing its Sprint and its 3G on the UConnect page:

https://www.driveuconnect.com/payment-terms.html

That page says $14.99, but its actually for the UConnect service... not the hotspot.

If it is AT&T, then thats good because when you initially sign up, they will offer it to you for $20 if you buy it right away. This is what I did with the Ford.

It would be really nice if that hotspot is that price.

Lol I know Im correct :-P
Yeah well... since the MOPAR and UConnect info brings the owner to the links I posted, its kind of hard to know if AT&T is a possibility... it seems that is the default pricing. I had to have your awesome post to find out that AT&T could even be an option.

I pay for the SiriusXM service that provides Remote Start/Lock/Unlock/Locate and whatever else is included in the package. It is free for the first year and $249 per year after that. I don't use the WiFi features. I have a shared data plan from AT&T for all the cellular phones and my tablet.

My one year trial has just run out and Sirius are pestering me mercilessly to sign up. Past experience has taught me to avoid these guys like the plague/ COVID. You can often negotiate a cheap deal for up to six months after which they kick in with a massively overpriced Fee which just bills your credit card And they won’t refund It and make it hard to cancel. And then good luck removing the card From their system. Horrible business model.

I tried the remote start 3 times and it worked once. I agree with those above - you can live without this feature quite easily. And the remote start on the fob works from a good distance anyway

Im not sure why people have problems with Sirius every time my music subscription ends on whatever car I have at the time I tell them I want to cancel and the only way to keep me is the $5 a month music plan which they will do. And when it comes to cancelling you can now do it through your account and not have to talk to anyone.

The remote start works 1/3 times as mentioned above. The Mopar app is horrible and never works properly, the Marketpalce doesn’t work at all and I was told there was a fix planned for the fall...fail.

The Uconnect system is managed by SiriusXM and uses the AT&T cellular network for communication. How well it works will vary by area coverage and roaming agreements with AT&T. It works well for me, but AT&T coverage is very good here. The app did have issues, but the current Android version works well for me.
