Anyone noted the MPG difference between stock tires/wheels combo and 35" and 37" combo?

I'm running 37's with a 3" lift, 3.73 gears and getting almost 19 mpg combined (including hauling a few loads of topsoil). I think it has a lot to do with the weight of the tires/wheels people select.

I've never saw that. If I could get 18 on 37's my decision to go to 37's would be a lot easier

37" Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT tires with 17x9 Fuel Off-Road Nitro 5 wheels. That combo weighs just about the same as the 285/75's with XD wheels I had prior.

Border of Foothills and Piedmont area of North Carolina. I'm a Hour and a Half from the Smokey Mountains, so it's rolling hills.
I’m in Greensboro and I get very different mileage. I can get over 18 on a flat highway but any kind of hill it down shifts to 7th and I’m in the 16’s

Do you normally run around 60mph on the highway?

No, that would be weird...

I actually have a lake house in the UP of Michigan and a place in New Mexico, so I drive at all different speeds and elevations depending on the state I'm going through. The picture you see here is not a highway, but a back road in the UP of Michigan and the speed limit is 55.

Thought I’d ask since that’s a good way to get 18+. Above 65 is when I see a really noticeable drop in mileage

I see the big drops going up hills/mountains or against a strong wind, but it normally evens out when I go back down or going with the wind.

You got a Max Tow or another model. I got Max Tow with 4.10 gears and I stay in 8th most of the time unless I hit a nice incline or run over 80 mph on the interstate. I did take up trip up your way to Virgina to pickup my Rubi Rails right after I put the 35's on and I got over 20mpg on that trip. Not sure why it varies so much, could be driving habits.

Max tow as well. Even at 70 it’ll downshift with a very small hill. What tire pressure do you run?

34-36 psi on 315 70 17 BFG KO2S, they weight about 62.4lbs a piece. Mine are the E rated, they make a C Rated as well, it's a little heavier at 63lbs. I've always ran E rated on my rigs though.

You are getting 17 mpg on 37" tires? If that is correct then its great. I wonder if anyone has a similar experience.
I actually just switched to 37's from 35's and found I went up to 17 from 16, you lose 8th gear on country and back roads so your Rpm's are more in the power band.
