Damn, my 2020 JTS is getting averaging 18 between in town and highway right now. And I have a lift, bumper, winch and 37x13.5s. The highways out here are 80mph as well.
You must be driving downhill all the time... 😫

Seeing the same terrible mileage I expect from every lifted jeep we've ever owned. JT on 37s averages 14mpg, JLUR on 39s averages 12.8mpg. Company car averages 52.4mpg and they pay for the gas so the Jeeps weren't purchased with the delusion that they'd be economy cars.

IMHO, we all opted to own incredibly capable bricks on wheels. It’s hard for me to imagine someone getting a JT not knowing the MPG’s aren’t going to be great. I average 18-19 in mixed driving and I’m fine with that. Think of this way, it’s like marrying a 500 pound bride and expecting a weekly $50. grocery bill.

I have owned three Gladiator's and I have found the only magic potion to get decent fuel economy is....how you use the skinny pedal. I have made a couple of post regarding my fuel economy so I won't go in to details. On OEM 245's I have seen 28 mpg with 3:73 gears. With 265/70's 25 mpg. Lifetime average of just over 22 mpg. Rubicon with 4:10 and 37's lifetime average around 22 mpg. Max Tow with 315's lifetime average before the 315's was 22.3 and now around 21 mpg. All about the same . No matter tire size or gear. The one thing they all had in common was driving exclusively for fuel economy 95% of the time and the same route and speeds. Average speed traveled per tank between fill ups was 43-49 mph included were traffic, red lights, etc. When I purchased the Rubicon with 37's it was used. His average was 12.9 mpg! Same vehicle but different drivers. He traded it in on a Mustang GT! I had a Charger Hellcat and lifetime average was over 20 mpg. It's all in how you drive it.

I get between 17mpg and 20mpg on average. We don't really have freeways up in Prescott but do have Highways, most of my driving is stop and go rural driving. We are at 5500' elevation, and everything is either up or down, not much level driving. Stop lights are not like city driving but we have a lot of them, so my mileage depends on how many of the lights I hit. I drive down to Phoenix once in a while and get between 19 and 20 on the freeway, but my driving is all up or all down with headwinds and between 75 and 80 mph. Winter driving is closer to 17 mpg and summer is closer to the 20 mpg. I tow a 5200 lb trailer and get 10-12mpg depending on hills and wind.

I have a 2023 Max Tow Sport with 32.8" tires on Mojave wheels, 1.5" teraflex leveling pucks, 410 gears, and use 87 octane gas.

My Gladiator is getting what I expected to get from the research I did. Could be better but could be worse, but it's not to bad.

I took am very happy with the fuel economy. I have owned many CJ's and TJ's and these have averaged far better. I bought a 2023 Grand Cherokee L and put 17-18,000 miles on it in 6 months. It averaged 24.3 during that time. Not too much difference all thing's consideration. I drove a rental Wagoneer with the Hurricane and was very impressed with both power and economy. The only way that I will ever trade this Gladiator is if the Hurricane ever makes it in to a Gladiator and I will unless the cost is out of proportion.

When my wife's JLU was in the shop for the new transmission, we were given a Grand Cherokee (WK2) for a "loaner". It came to us with the mpg of 18.
When my wife took it back, the mpg read 24.
We didn't even reset it when we got it - so that means she was probably doing even better than that to raise that number from 18 to 24 in the couple of weeks she had it.
Having owned multiple GCs with the PUG 3.6, I had to wonder - how does anyone only get 18 with a Grand Cherokee? Didn't know it was possible.

Being a rental probably excessive idle time. I know from experience at with police packages with the 3.6 when working an accident while idling because of the lights the fuel economy drops by miles per gallon! It's weird but the 4.6 in the Crown Victoria drops by .10's of MPG. I never figured out why. One of those strange but true things 😄

Yeah, one of my patrol cars average was about 7 MPG's, small patrol area, lucky to go 45-50 miles driving in a 12h shift. In prior patrol area covering large area 14-16 mpg's with 2 highways N-S and E-W average over 200 miles plus a shift unless a major crash.

Now, when I was driving my JT to and from work (115 miles daily), I was doing "the hyper mile'ing" driving and was getting over 20 MPG's (top was about 28 mpg's). First step was not exceeding 69 mph on I-state, cruise control, watching traffic flow for smooth acceleration, reduce need to use brakes and stock tires. A factor I found odd was the stock AT tires were better than the HT stock tires for mileage even. The 33/105r17 tires I have now are heavy as heck and got close to the HT tires MPG's when following that style of driving. In other words slow the f### down enjoy seeing the more aerodynamic cows in the fields. :giggle:

It's a loaner, so like a rental you're supposed to drive it like the gas pedal is an on/off switch. It's a rental, don't be gentle.

We use our Jeeps for long road trips and wheeling. Moab is 1,100 miles from home. Set the cruise at 87mph and we are there in 13 hours. Set the cruise at 69 and slow down gently every time there's traffic and you're looking at 17 hours minimum. I'll buy had and enjoy an eve 8 hours wheeling in moab every trip. You can enjoy the cows along the way.

The cows part is the joke of them being less wind drag than a jeep. ;)
