I have decided to put a topper on my Gladiator and take the Undercover Flex off. I am using this vehicle as a daily to replace my FJ Cruiser that I sold. I have a Ford F-250 to use as a truck, so I figured putting a topper on would give me a similar vehicle to the FJ.

I see a lot of post with the ARE and RSI toppers, but not many with the Leer. Is there a reason why? I know some don't like the gap between the cap and the back of the Gladiator. Personally, it doesn't bother me, I actually prefer the more vertical rear than the slop of the ARE... I am just wondering about the quality of the Leer versus the ARE.

Any input is appreciated.

I've had Leer caps on other trucks in the past, quality always seemed to be good. I put a RSI Smartcap on my Overland. I am happy with it, and like the side panels that open so I have access to the whole bed.

I have lots of Leer toppers over the years excellent quality would recommend never had one on my Gladiators I like the versatility of dropping the Topper when I need in just a few minutes so I have went with softopper works perfect for my use.

I have an Undercover on right now, but really just need the versatility of a SUV. I'll keep the folding cover in case I grow tired of a topper, but I have a F-250 with a folding cover that I can use to haul tall items and motorcycles if needed. I found a like new Leer for $1700 I am going to pick up for the Gladiator. I priced new ones and was shocked at the prices.....

Had a Leer on my Power Wagon. Got the cap in 2011. It was still on it when I traded it in. The clear coat peeled off the top of it after about 8 years. Both side widows started to leak after about 8 years. Had to take them out and reseal them. The 3rd brake light burned out in that time too. It wasn't a bad cap for what I put it through.

I have a century- which is a re-branded leer.
Happy with it. Well made.
Only complaint is the lack of side doors…. Didn’t think it would bother me that much- I was wrong. If I did it over again I would go RSI or Alucab.
