Ugh, wish I could take advantage. My son just started driving on his permit and the '16 Jk is going to become his next year...........if he keeps his grades up .

Man my daughter just got her license and the insurance went up so much my wife almost fell out the chair. She doesn't even like to drive. She tells me all the time she wants to live someplace with public transportation so she doesn't have to drive. I told her well in a couple more years you will get your chance

Carmax offered me $43,000 for my 2020 Sport S Max Tow with 16400 miles on it. Think that is a little bit more than the MSRP was but probably close as I don't remember exactly. I paid $35K for the Truck. But I still owe a good bit on it so if I sold it I would have to find a really cheap replacement. I love my truck and the things I have done with it so I think its gonna just stay with me.

Anybody that came of driving age pre-internet and social media days like myself, getting a drivers license was a right of passage and opened up ones social network circle like going to the mall, cruising on a Friday and Saturday night and actually over to peoples houses.

Nowadays, that social circle is more online and less important with teenagers seeing less of a need for getting their licenses immediately if at all.

I had to sell my TJ in 2009 when the Marines sent me to Japan. I've been dying for a new jeep ever since. I just sold my practical, but boring Honda for 4K more than I bought it for... and pre-ordered a 2022 Sarge Green Gladiator Rubicon! I feel like a little kid waiting for Christmas! So YES! I took advantage of the market to sell and upgrade back into the Jeep family!

So I had this discussion with my daughter this evening over our meal. I actually didn't bring it up but my mother in law did. My daughter mentioned she doesn't like driving again. So my mother in law asked her how come usually teenagers would kill to be able to drive like when we were growing up. My daughter told her no none of her friends like to drive. They rather text to each other on the phone and really don't want to talk to each other in person. So your spot on with your assessment at least regarding my daughter and her circle but I see it with a lot of the kids at her school. She told me we are just old people who have this hang up about needing to have physical contact or presence with other people.

Homo Sapiens have had 35K years of evolution being a in person social creature. To put the brakes on that within the last 20 years, comes at a psychological cost and detriment to society at large.

I get the same crap from my kids about being "old" at 54 years of age. I like to piss them off when they start texting me about stuff and call them to verbally talk to them. I do not play the 30 minutes of texting back and forth when it can be wrapped up in a 1 minute phone conversation.

I get a little sad when I think about how different my kid's childhoods are from my own. I grew up in rural Utah and was never inside my house. My kids live in the city and meet their "friends" in Fortnite lobbies. I remember being excited about Christmas beginning in early February because getting toys wasn't as easy as a finger manipulation on my phone in the Amazon app... My kids get junk all year long and have a hard time making a Christmas list. I guess it's my fault.... I'm going to go yell at my kids to play outside.

Times are changing. We’re old farts now! But we’re old farts in jeeps, still got our toys.

In my case, to find the Gladiator I wanted, in stock with the equipment needed, it was not a good time to trade. The trade offer was $4K under what I paid with full retail pricing for the new Gladiator. It could be the dealer, or just not the time to swap models.

My toes are in the water to trade for a diesel that is nearly identical to my current gas Gladiator. I do not have a feeling on how this will go yet, but if I end up with an oil burner, I’ll update the thread.

I was curious, so I went on Carmax's site, and I received the same response. I had some time to kill, so I dropped by and let them give me a quote. My JTR is a '20 (mostly loaded) model V6 auto that I bought new @ 6 months ago. I rolled 5K miles today. Sticker was $53K. I paid $48K. They offered me $55K. Just can't bring myself to do it. Love this thing too much. But if the 392 Gladiator ever drops, I'll definitely look at trading.
It's got to be area dependent I guess. I have a fully loaded Launch Edition, absolutely perfect, low miles, and my best offer was just under $55k. It had a $63k sticker and I paid $55k plus taxes and fees.

[edit] I have close to 10k in mods with tires wheels bumper and lift, I know an offer of MSRP for a 6 month old vehicle is actually kind of amazing, but not enough for me to sell. [/edit]

Just got a call from the dealership I purchased my JTR after I requested an offer. They offered 53k-58k depending on the aftermarket mods I have installed and mileage verification (9987 miles).

MSRP was 53k, using affiliate link with my company and 7k down, new sticker was 41k, the offer would barely cover payoff after TTL on the truck. Nothing to write home about. I feel like the usual dealer depreciation is gone but I dunno.

Yep sold my 2007 Sahara for more than I paid for it. Selling my 2016 JKUR for the same as the sticker price was in 2016. Already offered 20K more for my JTRD , temped but going to keep for a while despite the issues I have with the eco diesel motor.
