doors and roof are off, and parked in a parking garage. someone went thru the center console (which i leave unlocked), took nothing at all, and attempted to open the glovebox (which is usually unlocked but i had it locked this time for no reason at all)

i dont leave anything of value for pretty obvious reasons when topless/doorless, not even sure what they were looking for. but he did break the handle completely off the glovebox trying to open it. so i guess the lock is effective, except now it's extra-locked as i can't open it at all. is there a replacement part for the handle/latch, or do i need the whole glove box assembly?

I've been running no top it does all summer and have been wondering about the thought process too. If I need to leave something it goes in the console or glovebox, I know why the back seat backs lock, for the sub and optional Bluetooth speaker, but otherwise there's minimal storage back there, while all my tools and recover accessories sit under the back seat. Why couldn't that be lockable..... Just saying

They didn't even look under back seat as far as I can tell. I think the average opportunistic thief may no know to lift the seat. Definitely wouldn't screw around with a back seat that's locked, i think too much effort imo. But if like to be able to open the glove box so will replace that or the latch if possible

I just installed a Console Vault.
https://www.consolevault.com/products/jeep-gladiator-center-console-safe-2018-2026

I like it a lot. At first I thought about the wasted space, got over it quick.
I carry, so when an establishment has a 30.05, 30.06 or 30.07, sign in full display I must comply if I want to go in. Like a restaurant for example.

I feel better than just having it in the center console. Of course if the thief wants in they will but not with out making noise or being observed. at least long enough for someone to notice its by no means the most secure option but, its better than just the console lid lock.

Thanks I've seen these and considered it, but I don't really want to secure things i just want the glove box to be usable. I never leave anything of value anyway. I carry as well unless I'm going somewhere I can't, never leave on the truck. I may get the vault just in case but haven't needed one in 4 years. Does anyone know if I can get just the latch?

Heck, people have been killed for a necklace, druggies dig for spare change or anything that can be sold, you never know.
It doesn't have to make any sense at all. Around here, people wake up to several blocks worth of windows being busted out, nothing else, nothing taken.
make sense? No.

The glove box itself comes out really easily. Open it, let it go all the way down, there's a tab at the top you can push back and it allows the glove box to open farther, just lift it out.

It's a pretty busy garage for a busy gym and residential tower. And actually pretty well secured... also as i said nothing of value anyway. I'm not sure what is "made easy"? The poor glove box handle was just a sitting duck i suppose...
Again does anyone know if the handle can be replaced?

Doubtful. Bet you have to buy the assembly. But like I said, that just pops out in 2 seconds.
Ask Benny here at @AllMoparParts.com

The whole thing is so very easy to pop out!
NO tools needed!

Well yes will be easy once I figure out how to open it without the latch. I suspect some tool might be needed for that part, screwdriver or something. Haven't had a chance to look close

Air tag.
Conceal an air tag in something you don't care about that they would take.
You may be able to track there location and provide it to the police.
It wouldn't make much difference in my area as the cops have bigger fish to fry put it may help.

@brsnow2585 , there is a feature where if your truck is flexed at the right angle the back seat bottoms will lock. It’s pretty small too I think, like the equivalent of a couple stacked bricks? There were some threads on here about it a while back. A bit unconventional, but something!

I have long wondered why Jeep and other SUV/truck makers don't put drawer safes under the front seats? Seems like it would be a great sales point, whether it's your Glock, radar detector, dashcam, tablet or other small electronics you don't want to carry. One of the biggest ways gangbangers get their firearms is stealing ones left in vehicles. A drawer safe with a simple keypad like this Hornady safe would be great, not undefeatable, but quite an improvement. I've got a safe with a cable I put under my rear seat for my Glock or Sig.

It looks small, begs the question will a typical Glock fit in it?....

That will help him fix his glovebox?
