I have a 2020 JTR, and lately I've noticed that the audio and temp controls aren't responding right away when I start up the vehicle in the morning. I don't notice it really later in the day, but I think sometimes it still does it. So when I start my truck I can't adjust the volume, or fan speed using the screen or knobs right away. Seems like it can take up to a minute before I can adjust anything. However, I can adjust the volume using the buttons behind the wheel right away. Any ideas on what's going on? How to fix it? It's more annoying than anything but I also don't want it to get worse by doing nothing about it.

Welcome to modern age built and designed by people in pajamas.
Mine has done it a few times. They can't stop that from happening but keep adding more electronic BS to vehicles. I find if I stop, shut it off, get out, close the door, and get back in, it might go away. Or maybe it won't.

For the most part…… it happens everyday and I figured it was normal. I never considered it an issue or problem…..engineering programming maybe?? Seems the electronics are still ā€˜booting up’ before you can adjust the volume. The music shouldn’t come on yet until everything is ready (IMO).

I tend to run the volume higher (deaf in one ear). When my husband and I travel together, he immediately tries to turn it down as soon as the music blasts him out of the front seat. šŸ˜† But of course…. the knob doesn’t do anything. As soon as the system finishes booting up (or whatever its doing), it works as intended.

Never tried the steering wheel knobs. That shouldn’t be any different but I’ll try that next time. We run Auto Climate Controls and almost never adjust anything.

"I had a 20-30 second delay with the heated seats, fan speed and a few others. I pulled fuse F105 (ICS/HVAC) and reinserted it. I have not had the delay since. It is a 10 amp red mini fuse. You might want to give it a try.

If you are looking at the fuse tray from the passenger side looking towards the drivers side the F105 is the red fuse in the lower right hand corner of the fuse tray. Use the fuse puller to remove and then just reinstall the fuse. I did wait a few seconds before reinstalling, don't have any reason for it

This fix applies to:
- Uconnect touchscreen display / infotainment system
- Controls below touchscreen

Result: Rapid boot of touchscreen and related controls, including radio and air conditioning

This fix has completely resolved the occasional delay and/or flutter of the touchscreen and related components. At first, this problem was not annoying enough to bother fixing. Over the course of six years, the delay gradually increased from a few seconds to a minute or two. This problem did not affect starting the vehicle, but it did affect radio volume and air conditioning. The steering wheel volume button worked (and still works) fine, so I knew that this had to be an "ICS" problem. I didn't find "ICS" until I read the fuse & relay list carefully. There is only one fuse with "ICS" listed (no relays).

Fuse:
F105 ICS/HVAC 10A
ICS: Integrated Center Stack (including controls below touchscreen)
Fuse size: Micro2 / Micro II
Fuse amps (current): 10A

Any 10A Micro2 fuse should work. I stopped looking for a spare 10A fuse, in the PDC / fuse box, after checking about eight 10A fuses.

Of course, the correct fuse slot on your vehicle might be different.

CAUTION: Disconnect negative and positive terminals on battery before removing and replacing fuse or relay

I used needle-nose pliers to (carefully) remove the fuse. Tweezers might also do the trick. A plastic fuse removal tool is available, but the ones for individual sale at my local auto parts stores are too wide to remove a Micro2 fuse.

Two options for fix:

1. Replace with new fuse (inexpensive)
2. Wipe off brown residue on end of each prong (free)

When the vehicle is running, current is constantly running through fuse F105. I figure that the useful life of this 10A fuse is about five or six years. Then it needs to be replaced or wiped off. I replaced this fuse because I wanted to have a small stash of extra 10A fuses in my vehicle. However, the wipe-off method also works.

I was tempted to wipe off every fuse and relay, but this is probably overkill. In the case of a fuse or a relay, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I thought that the high humidity in the Houston area might be a factor, but this issue also occurred with Maximus Gladius in Calgary. After experiencing the same issue with his vehicle, he wiped off the fuse and got the same successful result."

My 2013 Jeep Wrangler was super sensitive to the battery terminals being very clean solid connection and had to be very very tight. It once started acting all weird, TC coming on and off, dash lights on and off, I checked everything seemed good, tried twisting the battery terminals all seemed tight. Called select jeeps in houston where i bought it, and their tech said, take off the battery terminals, clean and put back on as tight as i could, said it was common and that they are super sensitive to a lose ground.

Sure enough, everything looked perfect, but took off the battery terminals, did a simple cleaning, put them back on super tight and it ran perfect for years. Never had another issue with it.
