I have a 2023 gladiator with 8,000 plus miles . It has the same problem many other owners have with low speed shifting or lack of at low speeds . It is like the transmission does not want to shift into 1st as you are coasting / slowing down to come to a stop . One dealer tech told me it was either a programing issue or a bad valve body . I took it to the dealer and after 3 days they could not find any issue . After a couple of days it slowly started doing the same thing . I performed the reset using the gas pedal and again it was better for a short while . Is there a way to disable the "Adaptive" learning option ? Two more strikes at the dealer and i will Lemon Law this vehicle as i consider it dangerous as it "drops" into neutral and the vehicle gains momentum which can catch you by surprise as you approach a stop sign or another vehicle . Why won't Jeep acknowledge this issue and come out with a software fix ?

That is weird. Mine will coast but only if its flat. any type of incline and it'll engine brake. Is your gyro working? I personally love how this transmission learns. It rarely neutrals tho. I do drive with traction control stage 1 turn off tho.

My transmission hasn't done anything suspicious in the year and a half I've had it. It upshifts. It downshifts. Usually its a gear I want. Hopefully you find a resolution.

When i said it drops into "neutral" that is what it feels like as the engine rpm goes down to around 600 rpm when one would expect it go up as it shifts to a lower gear while slowing down with your foot lightly on the brake or not at all . I think Jeep programed it this way take wear and tear off of the transmission .

do you have the max tow package? I know a guy that doesn't have it and his almost never uses 1st. may have something to due with how its geared and programmed

No tow package .
that may just be how its programmed then if you drive efficiently. Not sure how you get around that tho.

Mine won't hit first until I'm basically stopped.
The converter is unlocked, little engine braking unless I tap solidly on the brake pedal and let off, then I feel it drop a gear or two and apply engine braking.
I can take a decent down-hill where the speed limit (and they watch this area) is 45, tap the brake pedal firmly and let up and it's like it senses my quest for keeping speed even - and suddenly I'm in a lower gear feeling the engine braking and the speed doesn't really rise as I head down the hill.

I'll drive it a bit later today - need to gas up and so on, and will watch, but I can't recall seeing mine drop into first until I am all but stopped - it really only needs 1st for taking off so there's no need for it if you are still moving, IMO.
It's really the best automatic I've ever had - except for the one in my 2020 Overland, but then - that was the same transmission - well, not physically because it can't be in two places at once (unless it's a quantum transmission?)
