I talked to a gentleman named Will at Metal cloak today about my 23 eco diesel build.
I intentional bought a base model Willys sport S because this build will mod out any rubicon features that come on the rig. (I thought)
In the conversation, he mentioned the Sport S has a narrower axle than the Rubicon unless you have wide track or max tow. I looked at the sticker and it has neither.
he said running 40s on the narrower axle may not be possible because it will turn into itself. Has anyone encountered this on their builds?

Not a builder but it makes sense with 1.5 less width your full turn locked tires are about .5 inch closer to the inner fender and other hard parts

You can run low backspacing/more negative offset to get around the narrower axle issue.

But how well do these Advantek 44s hold up to 40s and how hard will you be pushing them? That’s what you should be worried about.
I’ve never heard them called advantek. I’ll read on that. This build is going to be put to the tests the Rubicon and Moab have to offer. I may have just finally decided to move on to Dana 60s

Wondering why they offer narrow axles in the first place. Is there any advantage to them? Why carry two sizes with the associated supply chain overhead?

Wide tires don't stick out as far.

Couldn’t agree more.
I learned this only yesterday. I had never heard there were two.
My source, however, is one of the designers for the current versions of the Metal Cloak suspension company so I have no doubt he knows what he’s talking about.
Kind of a drag. I bought the JT before I knew to verify axle width.

I would love to have a more in depth conversation with you if you’d be willing to talk on the phone.

You'll be fine with the narrow axles.

As I said earlier, just get wheels with less backspacing or more negative offset.

I have wide axles and I'm running 12.50 wide tires with +6mm offset wheels. You could run -12mm offset wheels and you'd have the same stance and inner sidewall clearance as I have.

Thank you sir.
I plan to put 60s under this build one day.
This phase of the build is going to be close to 30k without the additional 19k in Dynatraks.
haha
Tryin to space things out a fuzz!

It's not really "Narrow" axles, there's standard width axles and then there's the WideTrack axles that come under the Rubicon and Max Tow gladiators. I believe for the MaxTow the extra width was necessary for trailer stabilization and to get the trailer rating that Jeep offered. I'm not sure on the rubicon other than off road stability, but it's only 3/4" on either side (1.5" Total). This could easily be addressed when you chose your wheels picking some with a bit less backspacing.

I had to change wheels to run the Apex disconnects with my tires. I think if you change the wheels, you will be OK in this regard. Whether the axles hold up to 40s otherwise, or not, I cannot say.

Itsmichalmann has rubicon/mojave fenders. Which would mean wide axels.

What wheels are those? Back spacing maybe different than stock wheels. Also, did you remove the Rubicon decals or just buy a Rubicon hood? Good looking build.
