They said that it’s saying it’s in 4 wheel drive when it’s not. I’m not sure how the rest of the system is working.

The warranty is nice. But what’s hard is the thought of making the first payment on the Jeep when I haven’t even touched it.

Sounds like you all are saying it no big deal which does ease my mind a bit. Just wish the dealer was better with communication.

I would think that should be a simple fix. If the shifter is in 2H and the truck is behaving like it's in 2H but the dash says it's in 4H, then it's either the switch on the t-case or the BCM/programming. A reputable dealer should get that problem solved quickly.

You'll love the truck once you finally get to drive it!

Got the update.
Just a s sensor. But.... they can’t order just a sensor so they need to replace the entire rear end.
5-7 days to get part in then the install.

I asked him if the Jeep will still be considered “new” or “used” since they are replacing the part. He wasn’t sure but is going to talk with his service mange.

Screw that noise, refuse delivery and either get a new one on order or your deposit back and go elsewhere.

Just when I was feeling OK with with everything. Oh boy ....
I’m using my MIL’s suv while I’ve been waiting for the Jeep since I sold my F-150. So I have a vehicle but can’t use it forever.

It's your cross to bare but at the end of day, you need to do what you are comfortable with. I would hate to accept something knowing it was fiddle fingered with before delivery as it pretty much sucks the life out of buying new to begin with. Of course stuff breaks all the time and is fixed before delivery with the customer none the wiser, but this is not the case and you are now wiser and know the pedigree before delivery.

I feel for you and am not trying to be your barometer on this as only you know the shoes you are wearing and situation with current transportation. This is a pretty big dollar purchase and you need to ask yourself if you are comfortable accepting a vehicle that has had a complete rear end changed out before delivery?

I'm not familiar with FCA, but I'm sure it's all the same, for GM the dealer can't do anything for warranty stuff with out authorization first. It's a whole process that can drag out, especially on new vehicles/problems. With this being the first year vehicle I'm sure they're analyzing everything to be sure it's not going to become a problem.

The fact that they offered the extended warranty at no cost, tell's me they're not worried about future problems. Now if you have a stupid high deductible, then they could be playing you. Just be sure to read the fine print and weigh out all things considered. Personally I would be in the same boat, not wanted to receive a repaired new truck, but not wanting to over react either.

The bright side, the dealer sounds like they want to work with you and help you. Give them a chance to prove that wrong. And if it is going to be considered used or whatever due to the repair, they ask for some extra $$$ off the OTD. ( I doubt they will change new status since it has not received ownership yet or exceeded the allowed mileage)

Good Luck, and remember patience goes a long ways.

I asked and he said the deductible will be $0 for the 7 year 100,000 mile warranty.
Just like Scott said you are the only one who knows what your situation is. I would weigh all things once you get more information on the finished repair. They may be willing to do more for you $$ wise once everything is done. The extended warranty doesn't sound like a bad deal if it is in fact $0 deductible. I hope the best for you and I am sorry this happened to your new JT. People will say all kinds of things they would do if it were them this happened to but in reality they may be searching for direction as well. Do what feels right to you and don't listen to the ones poking their chest out like they are big and bad. Please don't hesitate to ask questions from some of the members here, just take some of the responses with a grain of salt. Good luck my friend.

Hang on. They can't get the sensor, so they need to replace the entire rear axle assy? What does the t-case sensor have to do with the rear axle? That makes no sense.

Are they confusing that with the locking differential? Is the locker not working, and the 4WD is actually fine?

That's what my sales guy said. Maybe I should have a service guy tell me what's going on. Better yet maybe I should make the hour drive and see and talk in person.

I can't beieve they did not give you a loaner while this was playing out. Give your MIL her vehicle and tell the dealer you want a loaner

What if anything else should I ask for? The extended warranty is great but it sure doesn't hurt to ask. My MIL is out of state right now so she doesn't need her car but I see what your saying.

As many have chimed in, you have to make that decision to keep it or ask for new replacement. If I was in this situation, I would take the $0 deductible 7 year warranty especially if they are replacing the whole rear end. Just my $0.02. I think that is a pretty good deal.
