Take Gaia one step further and get an account with TrailsOffroad.com. TrailsOffroad has partnered with Gaia; they have tons of trails with GPS tracks and great turn by turn descriptions. You can upload these tracks directly to Gaia and then follow/track them on Gaia through CarPlay. We spent 2 weeks in Colorado back in June using those two together and it was pretty slick.
how much is Gaia?

And so badge of honor, a vehicle centric app, maybe owned Jeep, has not been built for car play?
You can’t even get OBD monitor apps to work over CarPlay or Android Auto.

The big 3 are:

1. Insane Audio JL3001
2. Stinger High10
3. Alpine - i forget the model name

I went with Insane Audio, personally.
Changing the head unit doesn’t change if an app is compatible with CarPlay/AndroidAuto. The only thing I could imagine it would allow is screen mirroring which has its own drawbacks.

Other head units (like Insane Audio) have the app store. You can run the app directly on the head unit in lieu of using your phone at all.

Gaia is $20 or $40 depending on level of membership and TrailsOffroad is $20. Both sound investments if you plan to wander.
is that yearly or monthly? I think I did the free version of trails offroad

I’m curious, can you still control climate features and view live vehicle data such as temps, pitch/roll, 4-wheel drive info?

while some features that come with those units are a nice welcome, I do like the stock 8.4” OEM unit and all it’s features that integrate with the jeep
