The reason to get the Diamondback is the ability to mount stuff to it and maximum security. Think of it as a platform to build off of as much as anything. It’s a bit much for just a cover.

I've been happy with the x4s. Because of the height of the Gladiator bed is noticeable shorter than other trucks I'm used to, I find myself rolling the cover back somewhat frequently for loading taller items. I also like that I can roll it completely back and the rearview is not obstructed in comparison to some trifold tops.

Another option I have been looking hard at is the Roll-N-Lock MXT with the option to add some Billie Bars (or other brand) on top with, rails, a platform, or basket. Seems to be a pretty versatile option and seems that cover has some good reviews.

I have the BAK 4Xs and have been extremely pleased. Even had a warranty issue and they sent a new one out within a week. My son liked it so much that he got one for his RAM. What I like about it the most, is that when I roll it up, it does not block my view out of the rear window. I know nothing about the other choice, but very pleased with my purchase.

I went with the EGR rolltrac and could not possibly be more impressed. Best slot design imo

I'm in the same decision making process. Reading a LOT of threads and reviews. The Diamondbacks all get great comments regarding being leak free, which is a big plus.

I just wish you could open the Diamondback SE just a few inches and drive with it for uses like picking up a few cans of gas for the mower etc. I don't like the idea of the fumes building up under a closed cover. I guess in this case the Switchback model would be better. The X4S would also be better.

either 1/2 of the DB can be folded back on itself opening up 1/2 the bed for situations like you mention. With the cleats, you can cinch down the top if you have something just a bit oversized that won’t fit with the cover closed -Like a 2x4 sticking out the back With the tailgate closed.

Just one plus for Diamondback: After looking at a LOT of installation IFUs for various covers, it's nice to see covers that do not need drainage systems for water.

One of the tabs you pull to release the cover in order to rollback broke. Otherwise it's awesome and their customer service excellent.

thanks. Yeh I’ve gotten a response back from BAK and there sending the needed parts. Super easy and top notch CS. I was definitely torn between the DB and X4 but love having the ability to roll it back when needed and no removal of panels.
