Well, ET is right, it probably supported the winch just fine, the owner just can't use the winch!

Maybe they can warranty it for something else or send a new one that can be beefed up beforehand. It sucks to have to do all that, though.
I’d be seeking a full refund.

I know some people won't be able to help themselves from leaving some kind of Chinese junk comment as if price is the sole indicator of quality and we should all just buy the most expensive thing in any category irregardless of any other consideration ever like we're the government... Have a blast.

With that out of the way, this bumper is junk as delivered. Rated for a 12,000 lb winch, has a 10,000 lb winch on it, in one pull warped itself about 2" up from level and twisted the winch so hard it may be beyond redemption as well.

If you're thinking of buying one, I'd take a hard pass, as I could have been seriously injured here and I really wouldn't want to see anyone get hurt or die using a product as intended.

Straight line pull, maybe 25' of rope out, so nowhere near the actual 10k rating of the winch.

I thought of fixing mine, I have a welder and CNC plasma table, but then what about the D ring mounts, etc etc.

This is my wifes vehicle, I want it to protect her, not harm her.

I saw nothing but good reviews from Extreme Offroad on it, so I tried it. I'll note they haven't published my review or photos yet. Maybe they will later, or maybe it went straight in the trash.

Depends who you ask
Thanks for the heads up. Just FYI you might want to check Wrangler forum about Fishbone seems they were bought up and quality has suffered. No personal experience though it’s just what I’ve read.

Does not surprise me when they spec it as 5/32" plate steel. IMHO, 3/16" is a minimum for any Jeep bumper and winch setup.

Borderline fraud how some of these Chinese sourced bumpers are marketed and self rated.

Good learning lesson. I have been there before over similar things.

Chinese products, when built to a buyers specs, can be good quality products.

Chinese products built with no standards to guide them, are pretty much junk.

The Chinese use recycled steel when there are no specs or standards to follow. This recycled steel is pretty much anything that can go through the smelter and make new steel. In other words, all grades of metal get thrown in and melted together. Finished product looks like steel, but it's some unknown alloy that has not been tested for strength.

There is a reason people stress to buy American made products. The steel is graded, it is tested, it is certified to specific sheer and tensile strengths.

With all that said, when it comes to bumpers, nothing thinner than 3/16". That extra 1/32" doesn't seem like much, but it is.

This showed up in a Made in China box, same thickness, also headed right back.

I'm not real hung up on where things are made, if China can build hypersonic missiles they should be able to build a stupid Jeep bumper :CWL:

At this point we're at the price of an American made bumper though, and since I can go to JCR Offroad in twenty minutes from my cottage, hopefully I can avoid continuing to get Mall Rated parts.

Because shipping back two bumpers and sending my wife off to work with no bumper is kind of annoying.

Gauge is far from the only variable, the alloy, heat treatment and manufacturing process have a significant influence over the strength. A sheet of same gauge hot rolled steel will be weaker than the equivalent cold rolled steel. This the hazard in copy cat products vs engineered solutions. You’ll pay for the R&D and material quality but it’s a worthwhile investment. You don’t need the most expensive brand name, but you should do some diligence on your manufacturer.

Depending on where a company is located your may be limited in your options for redress. These fly by night Temu operators are effectively untouchable, they’ll swap names and pop up the next day selling the same crap and good luck filling suit. Caveat emptor.

So, what you're saying is, Chinese junk that is cheap is an indicator of quality?
