Those old Jeeps are so cool.

But also just to keep it real- you say "real 4 wheeler" but a modern Jeep will walk all over them.

I had to pull over and take a picture of this. I want to build my gladiator into a version of this truck. Jealous! This is what a real 4 wheeler looks like

Nope. The old ones are cool and look proper. A modern jeep built up to look like one of those looks like complete garbage
I like the look and performance of the current Gladiators, which is why I bought one - a retro style vehicle with the modern day performance and creature comforts. I had an old '73 CJ5. That thing rode like a hay wagon and felt like it could break your ribs over train tracks. I won't even get into the sketchiness at 70 mph on the highway in high winds. I wouldn't even want one of those ever again.

Looks great!

But if I would have the chance to buy another pick up I would go for a Comanche. At least if I want to use it sometimes.

Being from an era when there were a few M715's still around when I was in the Army, I had the opportunity to ride in one. If I had any fillings in my teeth at that time they would have been jarred loose. It was a thrill, until it wasn't.
At least they were also slow as hell so it wasn't your back snapping too. They look really cool... in a parking lot. As far as actual function, hard pass. The only way I'd want an m715 was if it was body swapped with the gladiator, and the interior was swapped.

I thought the same thing about swimming the Gamma Goat...it was a lot of 6 wheel drive fun but rolled like an alligator if your weight was a little off.

I served for three years, from 73-76, stationed at Ft. Carson, CO. Where just about every Motorpool had a few of these beasts. They were absolutely amazing off road, the worst the better, I’m talking in Colorado, where the Post sat at the door of Cheyanne Mountain and Pikes Peak. That had some incredibly knarly tank trails to follow. I was fortunate to be assigned to a Combat Engineering Co. where the OIC of the Motor Pool was a hot rod fan. Who owned an M715 he purchased at a rare auction. That in our off duty time swapped a 3/51 Detroit Diesel from a Gamma Goat. That had about the same HP as the Hurricane OHC straight six, but 2-3times the tq. At lower rpm’s. Absolutely amazing rig! But NOT on a highway! Up in the trails we could get about 500 miles from a tankful of fuel. Driving in the dirt you could get through to 3rd gear at idle! If on hardpacked ground you could get to 4th gear at 17 mph! I have no idea what happened with that 5/4 ton beast!

Would be awesome as an around-town nice weather truck. Like people who have classic caddy convertibles. Daily driver though, nah I'll keep mine. They are so sweet though. There's a really cool ww2 jeep at owls head transportation museum in Maine

What i really need is that rifle and mount

I saved this thing from the jaws of the crusher last fall. Factory Buick V8 under the hood. We will see if it ever actually sees the road again, but for the $400 I have into it, who cares really. It's worth that much to me just to look at every now and then.
