Well if you tested the others and really felt no difference, then you must really have a good steering gear, which seems to be an exception.

I really don't think it's just "in people's heads", or "they're convincing themselves they have an issue.". Either it feels loose or it doesn't. I'm also not going to begrudge anyone who doesn't really have an issue but still wants it replaced with what seems to be a better quality part. We don't need to be judge and jury of who gets the TSB done. We all paid a lot of money for this vehicle, so if someone wants a fix that is covered under warranty, then go for it.
I agree, I just think if you don't need it your slowing down the process for people who do if you get it done. Nothing shows a good aluminum steering box is any better or worse than a steel one. There was quality control issues with the Aluminum ones and FCA decided to go to a steel box for a replacement, sure it's better if you had issues.

Yea the concept of cutting the line on this is a confusing one. The supply of these things is a logistical nightmare, and really seems depending on where you live in the country and the amount of JTs there, it's going to determine how long you have to wait. Those in TX and CA seem like they've gotta wait forever. My dealer's less than an hour outside of Philly and I was able to get mine diagnosed and replaced on the same day, just 3 weeks ago, didn't even have the "we can only order 1 or 2 a week" conversation. I'm starting to see more Gladiators around here, so maybe these dealers have had the run on the TSB seen elsewhere. Also, production of 21's doesn't seem to be slowing down at all, so FCA must be prioritizing those, which we can be annoyed about, but we live in America and that's called Capitalism. I'm just hoping FCA gets it figured out sooner than later and everyone who needs the new box gets it...

For what it’s worth... my steering was really bad And now it’s really good. I have no tangible idea what fixed it.

It started driving better when I put a winch on the front. And I put new track bars on. Also messed around with the drag link. It even drives good with 37 psi in the tires(35” E rated).

Thus I can’t honestly complain to get TSB done.

Almost 16,000 miles on mine and it's smooth as butter on the interstate at 70-80 mph. I don't drive much faster than that unless I got to get on it to get around someone. I really love how it drives and handles, so I'm throwing it out there because I can get the TSB done down the road if need be but I don't feel the need to do it right now. What are are y'all's thoughts on it.

For reference my dealership has noted that I asked about the TSB and I have printed statements from them that if a problem does come up they will fix it at no cost to me, even outside of warranty.

I just had the new cast iron steering box put on mine. There are still trying to make enough of them to get to dealers. I was working with a guy from Jeep Wave named Tony and he was fantastic. It took about a month and a half, but he practically had mine delivered to the dealer. I do notice tighter steering. There is also a TSB on the steering stabilizer that calls for it to be replaced. I installed a Fox one so didn't need it. This week I'm having the Synergy sector shaft brace installed. From what I hear with all those things combined it's suppose to make the JT actually much better to drive and eliminate the death wobble. My death wobble happened passing a semi at about 60 miles an hour. The wheels started moving back and forth with almost being impossible to keep it straight. I ended up speeding up to about 75 to get pass the semi so I could get back in right lane and slow down. My Gladiator has a Mopar 2 1/2 lift kit and running on 35's

For the steering aspect of the vehicle on roads only, I most likely would not have it replaced. The thing that worries me is the additional torque that may be incurred on the steering box during off-road driving. Assuming the stock box is aluminum (which I understand it to be), will it hold up as well as the steel replacement? This is the reason I've opted to have mine replaced.

I could take my hands off the wheel, too, and there wasn't play. But it still wandered - it was my wife that pointed that out. I figured it wasn't really bad............... but now have decided it was me just not accepting the fact that my truck was less than the perfect vehicle I was so sure it was. I just didn't want to admit it wasn't perfect.
My wife was the one who triggered my visit to the dealer and I told them what she said, I didn't think it was horrible, and let them decide.
I can now drive it and not even pay as much attention as I used to have to do - I can eat ice cream in the truck and not be all over the place.
I also think part of the thing was how it was in WIND or between semi trucks. That's where it really showed as less than perfect. On a level, even road, no wind, no truck traffic, it wasn't really bad.
But give it wind or have trucks pass you - or you pass them, hang on.

Yeah, I even have a video showing how I let go of the wheel.......

Mines never been like that. Before I lifted it the wind wasn't a issue, and the only time it was would be when it was like a 50 mph gust. Pretty much the same now except I can feel the wind more because it's lifted and how it cuts underneath it more. As far wandering, I'm assuming you mean going out of your lane, which mine does not do nor do I feel the need to correct. I sit back drive and 90% of the time it's with one hand at the bottom of the steering wheel. I mean maybe the new box should make a difference but after driving two with the new box I didn't feel a difference. Now as far as the aluminum box lasting longer than the steel one, that would interesting to know. Once again I'm not saying people didn't need the new box and if you had wandering or crazy all over the place steering and it made it better then you needed it. I'm not knocking no one for getting it. It's the ones who are saying I don't feel a issue with mine and then are running out and getting it done. Once again their entitled to it I guess but their are those who really need it that are having wait.

Not going out of lane, but not staying centered real easily, either. It was never an issue unless on a narrow road like East University in Des Moines. The lanes are the same width as a Gladiator.
