For me, I love my factory mopar roll up, seems most companies do not want to design for that due to having to off set the mounts to accommodate for its width and probably lose load capacity / looks, but I am not doing a RTT, just want to put solar on top, but I am probably rare so I get it. So I am considering getting another cover. Roll n lock is a high price to deal with that strap getting snagged, so bak revolver is the choice , but most importantly there are no half height racks with panels on the sides and rear that are hinged for easy access to all cargo.
I have never seen a factory roll up cover for the Gladiator, only the tri-fold. Do you have a link to it? I am interested in it ..

I would love the retractable cover, but i need every bit of space available in the bed. The cannister takes up more room than I can spare.

Hey Kelvin, I have the Bak X4s and that works best for my use case, which is mostly camping gear. I like the hard roll up because it does offer more lockable protection than a soft roll up. I also echo what others have mentioned about the retractable cover - I have concerns about off-road muck getting in the canister and being hard to remove, and because the Gladiator bed is so small already I don’t want to give up the space because I have a plastic bin system already sorted out that pretty much utilizes all of the limited space when the cover is closed.
For me, the best rack ideas utilize the full mounting rail and the tslots in my cover.
Our Gladi has Mopar rails, which are difficult to remove. It looks like it's permanently fixed to the bed, so if we want to design a rack for customers who don't have mopar rails, we have to put some thought into it.
The key issue is how to fix the rack to the bed while ensuring the sealing of the cover. I have seen various rack and cover compatible solutions, which basically involves expanding the bottom of the rack/cutting the edge of the cover.
I think if the cover is locked to the bed through a fixed 'edge', we set up an extra 'edge' on our rack for the cover to lock, raise the entire cover a little, and the cover is locked on the rack. The rack is locked on the bed.
In this way, our rack can easily extend into the bed without worrying about affecting the sealing of the cover.
I haven't seen anyone else design it this way, and I don't know if it's just an unrealistic idea. Two problems come to mind. The first is that there are many types of covers on the market, and we may need to design various connectors to be compatible with various brands. Second, the sealing on the left and right sides of the cover may be easier to deal with, but I don’t know how to deal with the front and rear ends.

Rails are not permanent but are a PIA to remove because of the adhesive on them. I do not like the way the rough country is secured and stays in place but I understand they came up with a universal solution versus a JT specific solution for attaching the cover specifically the rails. It works, it just doesn’t seem logical and you end up losing the ability to use the rail clamps at will. Again, they designed it for multiple vehicles versus being a JT specific product.
