I am not a fan of the drop in liners but have had a few in the past.

A trick my Grandfather showed me was to use a foam tape they use on camper shell installs. You put the tape on the high side contact points of the bed and wheel well in strips and then put the drop in liner on top of that. Worked pretty good and minimized the rub through issues.

The drop-in liners I had were extremely slippery, especially when wet, and were just waiting for you to slip and fall.

I have had some like that, I think it's based on the level of quality, and the materials used in manufacture. The rugged Ridge has a lot of texture. No slip, a little challenging to clean. Nose uphill and flood debris out with a hose.

I have a spray in and eventually I'm going to get the smart liner bet mat for a little extra padding and the floor won't scuff any cargo.

If right now you don't want to spring for a liner, I'd recommend that mat, I think it's about $140 and it'll protect the bed floor

The complete rugged liner drop in with the tailgate piece is $200, if you need a mat just get the horse stall mat from Tractor Supply for $40
