I want something that works well for general camp lights. Also will be used to light up the area when you hear those strange noises at night. They will be mounted on a full height bed rack.

A remote would be cool but not necessary.

I have seen a good option from Baja Designs. Any suggestions?

You can't go wrong with Baja Designs but they are pricey. I mounted their S8 10" Work/Scene light on my rack...smooth light pattern with no hot spots that comes in very handy. All the rack lights are wired to one of the OEM auxiliary switches...but you could easily wire up a remote switch. I also run the BD LP6 and XL-R racer edition spots on the front bumper. Here's a remote I've used to power fridges in previous trucks: 12V Remote Switch.

I was thinking of putting all of the rack lights through one of the switches as well. They will be powered by the house battery in my Genesis system. Does the Baja Designs light have a switch on it?

Trying to work through how I want to switch them. I like the remote for when it's the middle of the night and we're in the roof top tent. But I could always put switches on the rack by the lights.

No. Wiring harnesses with or without switches are available. For your application, it seems like a remote switch would be ideal...wouldn't even have to get out of the sleeping bag. I used the Fimco switch for years in 2 different trucks and it never failed...easily handled the draw of 60+ qt. fridges. I had the Genesis dual battery system in my last JK, but I now power my 40 qt. fridge with the Dometic PLB40 mounted right next to the fridge in the cab of the JT.

You can get a Bluetooth relay to allow you to have a remote in the tent. There’s also options like the trigger six shooter that can be mounted in the dash for all your auxiliary switches then pop off the face and take it in the cab with you (Bluetooth). Spod (what I ran in my 4R) has a bluetooth app as well.

As far as lights go I have 4 kc lights on the 4 corners of my bed and they work great for camp lights especially if something goes bump in the woods.

You can clearly see one in the top corner of the bed and the other right behind the fire extinguisher. Mirror image on the other side

Jwspeaker ts1000 lights.
They have the ability to be wired for high-25watt and low 5watt power.

I had these mounted under our pioneer rack on our jku…. Flood diffused. Awesome for lighting up canyons at night…. And then super awesome to kick a side onlow when camping….

probably one of the most undervalued lights out there! Northridge4x4 usually puts these on sale for thanksgiving and Christmas for $100 or so. ?
