My JT came with the Alpine system with sub. Meanwhile I upgraded the soundbar with 6x9 MB Quarts and swapped the dash speakers with the Quadratec tweeters. Now I’m thinking about upgrading the dash speakers. For what como (Metra speaker pods?) and 6 / 6,5 “ should I go without adding extra amps? And is there a plug and play sub upgrade available for the oem enclosure?

To the best of my knowledge the factory system is active, and the front lower dash / kick panel speakers act as a midrange / midbass. With that, you may not get the output from a bigger replacement coax that you’re expecting, especially on ~23w RMS. They are also very time-intensive to replace, so many people wait to do them until they also replace the amp to justify the time/expense. This then gives you the option of doing an active front stage with an aftermarket 6.5 midbass in the lower and some form of tweeter and/or widerange for the uppers.
