This past weekend I installed a lift for the roof in my garage, so I was pretty happy with myself. Last night when I lowered it back down for the first time, I apparently scratched the door a little, so now I'm not so happy anymore. I can't for the life of me figure out how it happened, so maybe it happened at the ballfield during my son's baseball practice. Either way, what's the best product to try to remove it? I found another thread that said Meguiar's, but it looks like there's a couple of different kinds on Amazon--Ultimate compound color restorer, quick scratch erase kit, ScratchX, and that's just the first few results.

I don't feel much when i run my finger over it, so it's not deep, so hopefully it comes out enough where only I will notice it.

Well, since that scratch is so high up, running through the creosote bushes is off the list.... I have always liked that "desert pinstriping" on new vehicles.....

I really like Meguiar's 105 & 205 compounds. For an area like that, use a clean microfiber and buff by hand. Start with 205, which is the less-abrasive compound. If you work it for a while and you find it isn't doing much, switch to the 105 (more abrasive) to remove the majority of the scratch and then finish with 205. Apply your favorite wax afterwards.

Tip: Whites & grays hide scratches well. Don't feel the need to remove 100% of the damage, as you are just removing clearcoat around the damaged area to match the scratch. Just use the compound(s) to blend-in the scratches and get them looking better.

Too bad you aren't closer to me, I'd just tell you to swing by.
