I’ll never understand why anyone would even consider towing anything over 4000 pounds with a mid weight truck...

So far, I've seen two problems:

1) FCA has done a HORRIBLE job at publishing GVWR, GCWR, and payload numbers for specific Gladiator models, and a terrible job of explaining what those numbers mean to people shopping these trucks.

2) The Gladiator is attracting people to the truck market who have never owned a truck before and have no idea what they are doing. They think they can hook onto a trailer and take off and it all works like magic.

The two combined are a recipe for disaster.

No telling what happened in that video. He must of had to slam the breaks or something. Too much weight behind for a midsize truck to stop.

And probably had no trailer brakes on that old camper, PLUS Jeep isn't offering the brake controller that they show on their website which doesn't help matters either.

Of course it could just be operator error..

Sure would be nice if that guy were a member of this forum or "knew the guy" if it helps the ego, so that we can find out their setup and educate people a little bit more about towing.
