The plastic plate below the steering wheel hides a OEM plug that is meant to be used for a direct plug in for a trailer brake controller.. what I would like to know, is this wiring standard on all gladiators or do you need to have the tow package for the jeep ro have this plug??

Unless they changed location, the plug for the brake controller on my Overland with the trailer package (ordered 5/19, built 6/19, delivered 7/19) is behind the kick panel just in front of the driver's door.

Otherwise, I don't know the answer to your question.

I would assume (but we all know to assume only makes an ass out of 'u' and 'me' ...The original Jack Klugman/Tony Randall Odd Couple reference :CWL: :CWL: :CWL: ) it would be there as there's probably only one wiring harness for all models regardless of the various packages. This way it simplifies assembly and they only have to plug in the various bits and pieces on the various packages and make the appropriate tweaks to the PCM and/or the BCM to account for the bits and pieces.

Not sure on the gladiator as the two we have had the tow package, however, the JL’s when not ordered with the tow package have the wire taped inside along the outer wall ??? took a few to find underneath… but was still there.

Mine did not come with the controller, but did have the plug and play connection for the Mopar brake controller. It works great.

It's there even without tow package.
For all they know, you would be using a light trailer on a ball on the bumper.
Even the instructions fiasco of 3 years ago hinted that wiring was there regardless for the Gladiator.
It's there. The connectors are in the back bumper regardless of tow package or not, so is that connector.
Not guessing, not assuming, this has been proven years ago.
