I’ll be joining this group soon. Picked up some used but good condition 315/70/17 KO2 tonight to put on my stock Sport S max tow. I plan to go rubi suspension mods at some point soon.
Nice. Do you (or anyone else on this thread) think adding the Rubicon suspension when going with bigger tires will make a noticeable difference in the handling/steering? Contemplating doing this or just upgrading the steering stabilizer.

Has anybody seen any sport S without lift and 33 or 35" tires? Wondering if a rubicon take off will fit the stock fenders and lift, wondering more optimistically if a 35" would have a snowballs chance in hell to fit stock lift and stock fenders.

From everything I've read on here......a Sport S with Max Tow will fit 35's without rubbing unless you get into some really serious articulation.
You're obviously gonna need to remove the Euro air dams in the front though (the plastic pieces between the fenders and the front bumper)
Remember, the Max Tow not only has different springs (dual rate) in the rear.....it also has the Rubicon axles which are wider than the stock Sport and Sport S models

Jeep Gladiator Sport. No Max Tow. No Lift. No Spacer. Stock Black Steel Jeep Rims 17 x 7.5. Swapped tires with 285/70 Falken Wildpeak MT Q121. The Q 121 is bigger and beefier then original Falken Wildpeak MT Q116. Looks very aggressive and rides smooth! No rub! Fills in space! Took out air dams for more aggressive look!

does it rub when you disconnect the sway bar and fully flex the suspension with the wheels turned?

This is my Sport S with 33" wheels/tires from Rubicon. No lift or spacers, no issues. Thinking of doing the 2.5" leveling kit on the front and 3/4" rear spacers then maybe 35's.

Based on this thread and other feedback previously I did the LT285/70R17s on our Max Tow Sport.

I've run multiple sets of BFG ATs, Cooper AT3s, and Bridgestone AT Revos on past Jeeps and decided to try something new in a "hybrid" with the Dick Cepek Trail Country EXP (purchased and installed through 4 Wheel Parts). Really loving the size on the unlifted Sport S...fills the wheelwells up nicely and keeps things reasonable for intended towing usage.

do you ever do serious offroading? I'm wondering if they might rub when the sway bar is disconnected.

Anybody have any thoughts on 285/70/17 vs 285/75/17? I have a Sport S (not max tow).

I was debating between 33s and 35s for Trail Grapplers. 285/75/17 splits the difference at 33.8 or so and isn't quite as wide which I like. Just placed an order today with my dealer using Mopar's buy 3 get the 4th for $1 sale.

EDIT - And that's on a stock Base with a manual.

Please let me know how you like them. After reading thread after thread it seems like 35s aren't worth it with 3.73 gears so I'm hoping one of the above mentioned sizes doesn't turn the truck into a dog. I'm leaning towards 285/70, but I saw some pictures of 285/75 on a sport without a lift and without the air dams being removed, but I don't know if it rubbed or what.

I finally had some time to drive a good bit with the new tires. Overall it's not bad - not as sluggish I thought it would be. It definitely lost a good bit of the pep but it's livable. I actually kind of like the feel of more 'weight' in the drive line. It does make shifts a bit smoother.

As for rubbing I'm not getting any. Rears have about 1.5" to the inner fender when on the bump stops...

Front was hard to get to the bump stops with the sway bar connected but it's about 1" from the bump stop and still has roughly 2.5" to the inner fender...

We'll see if I can flex it more than this on an upcoming trip but don't think it'll be a problem...
