I see you are in WV. Not sure how far away this is for you but check out @Travis@TriCityJeep. He has a sub forum in the vendor area. I have gotten two jeeps with him so far custom built and it was a great experience.
It would be a 4 1/2 trip one way kinda far but thank you.

All things being equal, I'd say order one to your specifications. When I was shopping in late June, things were winding down for the 2020 model year and Jeep wasn't taking orders yet for 2021. I found a Rubi on the lot with most of the options (and the color) that I wanted, so I managed to save several thousand off MSRP and was happy with what I got. As you probably know by now, there is a huge difference among dealerships in terms of inventory, pricing and dealer ethics.

If you are looking for a specific color (such as Gator or Gobi), you may want to find one on a lot as these aren't an option (at least for now) in the 2021 model year. Good luck with your shopping or ordering. It will be worth it in the end.

I've always managed to find almost exactly what I am looking for on the lot. Close enough that it wouldn't be worth waiting any longer for it. And I have found the dealers here are much more willing to work on price of the car sitting there they can push out that day. If you shop on big deal weekends I have found that to be extra true.

One problem on build is you gamble on incentives. You can lock in your price at purchase but you can't lock in, for example, the $2k incentive they did earlier this year which will be on top of many of the standing offers. For some like the current 0%, there's a deadline at which point you'd have to have your truck and it's generally outside the order window.

If you're buying outright and/or don't care about saving all you can then it's less important but the $2k incentive and promo financing on top of that in February is what got me into my truck instead of ordering the perfect one.

If you're willing to make the drive from WV (likely a full day trip at most) to Falls Church, VA, there was a standing offer for like 8% off invoice at Koons in the vendor section here and Ourisman in Alexandria was dealing when I bought mine there. Lots of competition selling these trucks outside DC because they're not as popular as expected.
Yep that was me. Thought I was going to be ordering but I managed to find a vehicle that was close to what I wanted and I was able to cash in on a lot of incentives to get the right price

Depending on what you may can find incentive wise in your area, Travis may still be a better deal. I just did a order with him in July for a 2021 JTR diesel. No hassle, very straightforward and knowledgeable.

Just be sure to talk to several dealerships on pricing related to orders. It can vary quite a bit.

I had no issue using the Tread Lightly 1% on a JT. You do have to be a member for 30 days to receive the discount. If you do an order, the 30 day waiting period will not be an issue. More of a concern if you are buying off the lot.

Its worth it. You will spend longer in most other dealerships fighting over price. I held out and tried two dealerships in my area and go nowhere for an order. Travis was quick and his team did pretty much everything over phone. My drive was something like 2.5-3 hours to get it.

Between the savings there and being able to strip out all the features I didn't want I saved a crap ton of money. Got a Rubicon for less than most of the Sport S on the lot. This was before all the incentives though.

Who did you deal with at ourisman? They have something I’d like to look at but I’m having trouble getting anyone’s attention.

I honestly don’t remember... it was a younger guy who was clearly new and I generally had the same experience until he came over. Funnily enough, he got the only sale in the time we were there.
