So hopefully soon will be able to upgrade the bumper on my JT as well as a winch. The question is regarding self-installation. Is the process very labor-intensive? I am looking at possibly the RR Arcus or maybe the Ebay Mopar Steel Bumper. I have kind of a bum right arm after an injury some years ago. Had surgery but the repair was not completely successful. So I have kind of limited use (Lost a lot of grip strength as well as flexibility in certain ranges). I guess I could pay someplace to do it but would like to save the money and do it myself.

Its not hard at all, just a little time consuming. Helps to have a second person to help. I'd rate it on a scale of 1-5( 5 being hardest) at 1+.

You can do it no problem, I literally just finished doing this by myself with one arm due to shoulder surgery and did it with my opposite arm. Just take your time. Stock bumper takes 15 minutes to be removed if you have cordless impact gun. I had it apart and floating ready to tighten in 2 hours last night. I did the lights and squared it up in about 1.5 hrs this morning. I did not do a winch at this time.

I did the eBay MOPAR style steel bumper myself - simple. The winch part took the time, the bumper is a piece of cake. One person, no problem.
Unplug the fog light harness at the right frame horn, remove the trim/filler part, then it's 8 nuts.

If you can make things with Legos, you can swap a Jeep bumper.

Original bumper off - like Matt said, cordless impact, extension, swivel, sockets, pretty easy.

Yep I am getting ready to go buy myself a cordless impact. Not doing it yet but hopefully if my wife lands the new job (Signs are promising) will free up some of the spare spending money I had before. Really been liking that RR Arcus bumper more and more but I also like the Mopar knock off bumper look.

I have the RR Arcus and love it, but it’s a royal PITA to install by yourself. Long story short, you have to mount the two recovery hooks (the heaviest part of the bumper) and the bumper’s shell at the same time. You have to hold all three pieces in place while trying to line up the the holes to thread the bolts through. If you go with the Arcus, a second person will make the installation experience a lot more enjoyable with a lot less swearing. I had to install it a couple of times because my winch was bad right out of the box. I wouldn’t pay a shop to install it, but I would ask a buddy to help over pizza and beer. Good luck.

Arcus requires 3 hands. It’s easy until you have to align the 2 hooks, the bumper skin, and thread in the big ass bolts holding it altogether.

Yep perhaps will have to get a few helpers either route I go.

I had to enlarge my holes as the bolts didn’t fit when installing my Poison Spyder bumper. I had to purchase a step drill bit. Other than that, it was an easy process. It took me a good part of the day because I rerouted the wires several times to get it to my preference.
