If you want to blow an extra $23k get the rubicon. You'll get some generic yet "upgraded" steel wheels and a sweet looking hood. Basically the sport and rubicon are the same jeep, minus the 4.10 gears, which you'll only need if you are towing your aunt flossy's mobile home. So for an extra $23,000 you get to have the prada of car badges "rubicon". After much research I just couldn't justify paying $63k for a loaded tits out rubicon. Paid 41k for an overland and tricked it out and it's a fraction of the price of a rubicon which does not have anything special in the engine department or body mods. WHY people insist on the rubicon and overpaying boggles the mind when 98% of jeep owners don't offroad. Waste of money and an ego circle jerk if u ask me
Thanks man, you made me feel like I got the deal of a lifetime (although many have negotiated much better deals than I) My well equipped Rubi was "only" $47k (+TT&L.) But I agree with you that the OP shouldn't over-buy what he needs. Sounds like he won't use E-lockers or sway bar disconnect or want the incredible ability to crawl at 84:1. When you want or need these, the other trims don't pass the muster. I'd even offer to swap my vented hood for a plain jane -- which I actually prefer -- but there's no chance he'll be getting the Gator color.

I havent owned a Jeep before and to be truthful, I havent owned a car in 10 years. Cost is not a concern. I will seldom take it off road and probably wont haul anything but my road bikes. That said, I like the slightly bigger tires (not the huge mudders), love the vented hood, and the coated bed ... but feel like the way it drives on the Highway is going to be the biggest factor to my satisfaction. That said. I would welcome any advice and comments?
- Configurations
- Negotiation (even though cost isnt a concern, I dont want to pay too much)
- Things to ask as part of the deal ????

THanks in advance!
For me there was only two ways to go, either Rubicon or Mojave.

I’d be all over that swap if we lived closer.

I bought a Sport S Max-Tow, (My Max-Tow is pre Trac-Loc) :( I'm not a fan of the 4-1 T-case on the East side of the Mississippi River due to a few experiences with people running with it. Lockers is a miss on not available for non Rubicon but it's only in 4 low in Rubicon. If the Mojave would have came out a few weeks earlier I would have got that. Though most of us that have got Max-Tow are seeing slightly better MPG than the rest. You can do the order of what you want if what you want / need is not on the lot, plus dealership swaps. Do a workups on what you want and or need test drive a Sport, Overland, Rubicon and Mojave too. If you need/want upgraded stereo get it when purchased. Hardtop or soft top the same. If you have a budget do keep that, but don't under or over buy. Mine is my 7th Jeep #3 brand new my first one my MJ I ordered and did a change from a XJ I still have some regret on options on it. #2 was a dealership swap this one was too but almost exactly what I wanted (already had sprayed bed liner I wanted to do after sale)
I do recommend getting the Aux switch even if you don't have a plan for using it, that option was non negotiable for me. Could have I afforded a loaded Rubicon probably if I wanted it but I didn't want some of the things on it as I have stated already. Some have had problems with the sway bar disconnect and Lockers on other Rubicon models (JK's). I have Rubicon Express disconnect for sway bar on my XJ, I'm able to get out to do that. It's not like I can air down from drivers seat. Something else to think about or to not worrying about it not working.
I hope this helps you and other's, I look at a vehicle purchase as this could be my last one and I don't change vehicles like some change their socks. I drive the hell out of them.

Looks great. Seems like a color like that on a Gladiator should be called blood red.

If you are looking for luxury, pick the Overland. It's about $10,000 less than a Rubicon. There is an option to upgrade to a more aggressive tire tread. There is literally no where close for me to off-road in my area, so my Jeep serves two functions: Topless in the summer, winter warrior during snow fall. Best of luck

The Jeep site shows me the difference between an Overland and Rubicon is actually $3500.

Very slick! I was playing on the Jeep build site the other day and I only saw the painted bumpers on the High Altitude model. What option/package gets that on the Overland?

Congratulations! Sounds like you got what you wanted and it looks AWESOME! Love that color - Looks a lot like the Octane Red I had on my Challenger Hellcat.

Thank You for clarifying , I was looking for the right way, without being harsh!

I bought, should I say ordered, my Rubicon a year ago and got it exactly the way "I" wanted it, it's "YOUR" Jeep, build it the way "YOU" want it, "YOU" are paying for it!

Oh yeah, it's a year later and 14,000 miles and I am still loving my Rubicon !!!

Picture is from 2 - 3 days after I got it!

If you reposition your truck you could make it appear as if the space shuttle was attached to your top. Would be a cool pic.

In Canada it’s around $10,000 if you want the Overland and Rubicon fully loaded. I keep forgetting about the difference in price between U.S. and Canada.
