Start Rant: Like I'm sure a lot of you, I financed my Gladiator through Chrysler Capital. Occasionally I'm curious as to how much I still owe on the truck, and so 3 or 4 times a year, I'll just click the payoff amount to see. Without fail the dealership I bought it from starts blasting my phone and messaging me nonstop for the next several weeks claiming that I signed up that I was looking into getting into a '24 Gladiator.

They won't leave me alone until I tell them that I never signed up for it, and to quit bothering me. It's driving me nuts.

I assume that CC sends some automated email to the dealership anytime I look at the payoff amount thinking that I'm starting to get interested in a new vehicle.

End Rant

Every 3 months you check how much you owe? Isn't it roughly the same as 3 months ago minus a little less than 3 months worth of payments?

Well yeah of course, but anything that has to do with my finances (debts, investments, etc), I stay on top of and constantly check to make sure nothing is off.

So stop clicking the payoff amount. It's not going to be much different than the balance of the loan. Log in and see the balance and log out. You can figure payoff within a few dollars yourself.

I did that a few times but never received calls from them. But I opted out early.

I would consider refinancing, after you can confirm a same / better rate. Some FI’s / credit unions will even offer a cash bonus to refi - usually a percentage. (1-2%). $ in your pocket for upgrades! Should put an end to those pesky calls from dealer.

Good Luck!

I'm perfectly willing to entertain offers on my Gladiator from the dealership(s).

Since I've got my S number and know everybody around here, I will only get calls from newbie BDC guys.

I tell them I will absolutely come down to the dealership TODAY if they'll give me a deal that includes $5,000 cash on top of a straight across trade - my 130K mile 2020 Sport S for their 2024 Rubicon X Gladiator or 392 Wrangler.

I'd even settle for a Grand Wagoneer Series III Obsidian, but they'd have to get me an additional $5,000 cash, because I don't really like the puny engine in the new one.

I'm a done deal. I'll meet them in front of the dealership and they can walk me right back to finance.

They'll call me back once or twice, then I'll get a call from the manager. The best response from them - so far - has been "Shawn? Stop screwing with our new salesmen."

None of your business :)
One of the reasons why I financed thru my local credit bank when I bought my oil burner. Dealer was super annoying cos I didnt go thru their high APR Chrysler financing but in the end, they wanted to sell the truck so caved in and let me use my Golden One bank.
