I received a call last night from the Jeep concierge service. They didn't mention anything about the launch edition. They just wanted to know if I had been contacted by any of the Jeep dealerships in regarding to purchasing a new Gladiator and if there was anything that I needed before I made my purchase. I assume I just came up on their radar because I had signed up for more information early on into this process. We had a short discussion about upcoming features and incentives . I noticed the call came from Ontario . Has anybody else got this call?

First I've heard of this, buy I hope that I get a call. I want to ask them when they will be honoring the AP discount and what can be done to stop dealers from trying gouging customers.

I had this discussion with the concierge when I first tried to cancel my LE order on 4/4. They said dealers should not markup and connected me directly to the same dealer that called me with a $15k markup. Its really up to the dealer on how they want to handle it.

I understand that it's the dealers that are charging MSRP and above, but sooner or later when these trucks aren't moving off the lots FCA is going to wonder why and it points to their dealership network.

Well, the same stealership confirmed that they can get order me the LE at MSRP while on the phone with the concierge, changed their tune and slapped me with a $2k markup as I found out.

I actually got an email from them last Friday after never having been contact by my dealer, asking me to contact my dealer if I wanted to order a launch edition and the information to give them. Apparently they were still holding my spot, and I had until the following Friday to order.

So, I went to the dealer to discuss and bought a loaded Rubicon off the lot, so whatever their ploy was worked. I couldn't see waiting a couple of months for some badges as the one on the lot was the color combo I would have ordered, and I likely would have had to pay close to msrp for the privilege. The dealer gave me good value on my trade ('18 JLUR) and a better deal than I expected on the Gladiator. So far I like it a lot, ride is nicer but handling isn't as good. Fuel mileage so far is 2mpg lower (I averaged 20.5 on my JLUR), but it'll wait for a full tank to make a judgement.

I received the same message from Jeep via email about them “holding” a White LE at the dealership. We’re good friends with our Jeep dealer and he said he did have a white Gladiator but it wasn’t an LE. Seems this may be a tactic from Jeep to get you to contact your dealer and see if you may want to change your mind. Also, we ordered the Granite Crystal...

I'm really glad I opted not to get the LE and went the configured route instead. Aside from the cost savings, I'm likely to get my truck in the next 2-3 weeks and it's exactly how I want it (with a soft top). I hope for all the rest of the LE orders that Jeep puts in some last minute surprises in for you that make it a worthwhile deal.

Why would it not be a worthwhile deal? No matter what version of the gladiator someone purchases, its worthwhile to them. Whether they wait zero days or several months.

Waiting on an LE is not a bad thing for those who wanted it.

I guess that's subjective. My configuration is $59K and it includes everything that can be added to a Rubicon minus a hard top. $62k to me is not "worthwhile" to get a limited edition especially if it means I have to wait longer. The different wheels and the leather dash have no value to me, but to others they obviously do. Add to that the fact that I'm getting 7% off dealer invoice, and most LE buyers are not getting as much of a discount, I would say it's obvious what I mean by worthwhile. But I give you that it's still somewhat subjective. Some people are willing to pay for things others can't understand. I paid $1500 to get my car ceramic coated which my neighbor didn't understand. He on the other hand paid $2500 for an ECU update that added around 20HP to a 550HP car. I can appreciate that we don't all see eye-to-eye.

Are you going to have your Gladiator ceramic coated? I’m thinking hard about it. Would be interested to hear feedback from someone that has done it before.
