Just went to 37s with a 3.5" lift and as you can see my wheel wells are full of tire.
Can I get a few more inches of useable clearance by changing fenders?
I like the minimalist look of the MotoBuilt fenders but they're pricey and gonna be that much-more-so once I have em paint matched.

I'd prefer they be made of metal but am willing to look at anything that is working for yall.

If you off road, you don't want metal fenders. If you get into something with them you'll cause more damage.
Plastic flares take the brunt of damage and don't tend to pass it on to the metal parts behind it.

With that said, you can go to Rubicon/Mojave flares without inner liners and gain quite a bit of room.

Quadratec Baja flares add decent clearance along a little bit of width to minimize tire poke

I have the Rugged Ridge Max Terrain flares. They're about an inch wider for better tire coverage, and added about 4 inches of clearance compared to my stock flares.

Pretty happy with them. I wrote about them in detail here if you don't mind a bit of reading.

Find some used Rubicon/Mojave fenders and gut them. I run 37's with no lift and plenty of room.

This isn't really universally true. Rubbing vs low speed bump vs. high speed hit... slick rock? tree? brush? mud? My fab fours have held up against most of that with very little damage (other than some pinstriping). Rust? Yeah that's a problem. Overall appearance? Yeah that's a problem, too. I admit they're obnoxious and not my first choice. But they've withstood quite a bit. I sort of view big steel fenders & bumpers like I do rock sliders. They protect the more expensive / more easily damaged parts of the Jeep.

Also......Have you actually tested your bump spacing?

Most lift manufacturers send you more than is required probably so they can use the same kit across all trim levels. Tuning arm lengths can net you some more clearance if you have adjustable arms.
