Full disclosure it's my first post on this forum so hoping I am not going to get to beat up on here lol

Picking up a new 2023 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon next week.

Having a issues with finding car seats that will work. Have tried six different kinds and not having any luck. Have to install two car seats for a 5 year old and a 3 year old.

Problem I am having is the head rest in the back seat is not allowing the car seat base to fit tight.

Everyone on the internet is saying the Diono Radian 3R is the solution. Bought one to do a test fit and it doesn't work either, same issue with the top of the head rest of the car seat hitting the head rest on the back seat kicking the bottom out.

Dione 3r should work. At one point I had 3 across the back. The top of the car seat will compress the truck headrest padding some and a knee in the seat will get it up against the rear.

For some damn reason it just seemed like it wants to pop out at the bottom. Was also concerned about the bottom of the Diono Radian 3R jacking the leather seat up. You have any issues with your seat getting messed up?

Installed these under the seats. Have held up well.

Absolutely true. We had the same ones before ours were tall enough for boosters. They worked great.

I put full seat covers from Bartact on first. I’m sure there will still be some permanent creasing on the seats below, but if I get to have kids in my Jeep, I’m still winning in the long run. If they get too terrible before they’re done with boosters, I’ll replace the leather I guess. But in the mean time, that they fit and are safe is the primary concern for me. I also have Rubicon leather.

If all else fails, the headrests are removable (according to the service manual). It requires removing the seat back to get to the clips that hold the headrest on. It doesn't look to be that hard to do.

You don't give the size of the kids. I was a car seat tech for 15 years with the Sheriff's Office here, but it's been 6 years so I will give you the best info I can. I don't recall if the back seat head rests come out or can be turned around. Are you installing with seatbelt or latch? The 5 year old may be able to use a no back booster seat, 3 year old also depending on weight.

Check the owner's manual for the seat and vehicle. They may help. There is a seat called the Bubble Bum which could help as well.

I would strongly suggest finding a car seat technician near you. Many Police, Fire and EMS agencies have technicians, usually by appointment or at events. I hope some of this helps, ensuring the safety of our children is paramount.

I have uaed three different brands Graco etc... all fit fine. Gladiator Rubicon. Using the LATCH system including the clip in the back. It took some wiggling and turning but they all fit.... they also had adjustable head restraints. My 5 yo is almost 4 feet so the head restraint was just above the headrest but my three YOs head restraint fit right in the middle of the headrest. Both fit tight.

Left no permanent marks on my 15 Hard Rock leather. That includes the infant bases and regular car seats.

As an after thought, they are all reclining and all installed upright.

Thank you all for the replies and assistance.

Not sure what the deal is with the install. When I test drove it for 2 days I tried different car seats with no luck in getting them installed properly. Plan is to take possession of the vehicle this Tuesday so will try to work some magic with the 6 different car seats we have to see what I can come up with. Yes 6 car seats, my other half is a pack rack lol

As far as the head rests they don't rotate back and yes you would have to remove the backing on the back of the seat with the cheap plastic clips and then unscrew the head rest posts which would be a pain in the ass from looking at it in person and watching a YouTube video.

Most of the information I could find with install is either older years, different models, or wranglers. Haven't seen anything with install on a 2023 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon. If I can across it, I may have missed it.

As far as doing a bottom only base booster both of my mini terrorists are to small. Plus I don't trust my daughter to have that much freedom. She will probably try to car jack me.

By the way, the lower Latch systems are only rated for a total /combined weight (seat + child) of 65 pounds. Jeep’s may be different but that’s generally the standard. Seatbelt attachment method is much higher.

We have 6 now as well and have Lready taken the 4 infant setups to goodwill...
2 are in the Kubota side by side back seat... neighbors got a good laugh? .
