Carmax and Jeep

I was supposed to pick up my 2021 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon today at CarMax. After waiting seven days for them to ship it 5hours.... I was told today that Carmax is not selling any 2021-2025 jeep gladiators or Wranglers due to the fire recall.. I put an order in for a 2020 Gladiator and just noticed that almost every 2020 Gladiator is now on hold... just an FYI.

That sucks. Might be for the better but same time, see if you can find one somewhere other than Carmax. There is a Jeep tax and they certainly charge it.

TBF, I'd hold off on the first model year of any new vehicle, but especially if that fell over the Covid years. Because of chip and material shortages, MY21's can be hit or miss regardless of the manufacturer.

I specifically excluded MY20 and MY21 from my search and would have preferred a MY23 but the deal I got was too good to pass up on a MY22. (I'm certainly paying for it catching up on wear items and maintenance!)

CarMax usually has a pretty good relationship with the various new car dealerships as they will routinely run their lot vehicles through them if their service department cannot fix certain things. I would not be surprised if they get priority to run them through for the recall.

If your shit is all melted I'd demand a new pump and harness.

I can't upload the entire recall procedure, its 58 pages because of the different model years and the various engines, but the gist of it is, check the power steering pump harness to make sure its connected properly and use the scan tool to see if there are any codes present. If so further testing is necessary and you may have to replace the power steering pump and wire harness connector.

The rest of the recall instructions is simply how to do it and which parts for which engine, whether Hybrid, 4 cyl gas only or 6 cyl. yes parts are on the way. I think most will be just check and inspect and no need for a replacement.
