Fair enough and good luck for your application ... as far as my application (in case any of it applies to you) - since my plan was to keep my cb antenna near roof level of the jeep this led me to the 2ft firestick, which in turn led me to the rugged ridge kit to let my cb antenna do double duty as cb transmit/receive plus fm receive ... for reference my CB SWR was less than 1.1 (can't remember the exact number) in the end ... I used the driver side cowl for a GMRS mount ... on the GMRS cowl, I added metallic tape on the underside of the cowl (did not do this on passenger/CB side ... GMRS SWR with jeep off was very near 1 and was just under 1.2 with jeep on (I declared good enough for my application and didn't troubleshoot this further)

(Edit: added pics ... wow is it cold outside)

Well, there is no questioning success! I appreciate the pics, weve got 15 degrees here in central Texas today and it feels like your pictures look!

No worries! ... we all have differing goals, which is why we end up with different builds! Just sharing mine since your request was where I started ... just not where I ended ... I am sure that I am giving some gain away ... I am sure that I am not getting a uniform transmission pattern ... but then again, I wasn't willing to put a larger antenna on top of the cab and add a large ground plane (some have done this by modifying a cab-top rack ... and of course there are multiple middle grounds ... it all depends on what your goals and constraints are (can't shake my engineering background)!

Good luck and keep the questions/comments coming

FYI - those pictures were taken near the high today (4F) ... finally got some use out of that factory optioned block heater!

Don't know if this would be any help, but there is a bed mount available too.

I didn't know people still used CB. I thought most everyone had switched to GMRS for off-road

I caught a truck driver radioing ahead to a State Trooper once because I was speeding down the interstate really late at night. I thanked him and got a brief flashing of lights from the State Trooper. I miss that cheap hand held CB

When the Gladiator is the highway vehicle to get the other toys to the playground, it helps to talk to the truckers. It kept me out of a fiery crash 2 weeks ago. so in my vehicle, it is one of each.

Hey, you should move this into the electronics section. It's not a diesel topic. Although I enjoy it, as an engineer, myself! That way you'll get more radio peeps to see it.

I have a light stick, GMRS, and CB all on the driver's side. The CB stick and light stick I normally keep in the bed.
