CEL/Glow Plug Flashing on Dash - P0673 Glow Plug Circuit/Open

How hard is it to actually change the glow plugs. I'd rather not pay the stealer ship 1600$$. I can but them for 68$ each. What like 1/2 hour to an hour each one? I'll just change them all if that's the case

I ordered 5 glow plugs at $61.13 per plug. I now keep two glow plugs with me when traveling. I'd hate to be 500+ miles from home and have a glow plug failure. Depending on the glow plug, they can sometimes be a little tricky to get to, otherwise, they're not too difficult to change out.

That's cheap!

It's not cheap, per se, but I let the dealer do most of my work. They have good diesel techs, so I trust them.

On the drivers side= air filter duct, the air duct from the inner cooler, and the metal plate under the inner cooler duct. The passenger side I’m not sure as I only replaced #4 plug.

Well changed number four tonight. Do I need to have an auto parts store or somebody with a code reader clear it? It's still showing the coil symbol and the engine light symbol when I started it made sure everything was back in place glow plug tightened it in heard the click on the glow plug when I put the cable on. It started right up but still has the engine light. And are glow plugs that were previously taken out. In any way shape or form salvageable?

Will need to clear the code. I suggest you get a code reader “cheap ones are about $35” and reset it. Some auto parts stores won’t reset codes some will.
The old plugs are disposable just like an old spark plug toss it out.

Can you not manually clear the code yourself? But yes, the DTC (diagnostic trouble code) will need to be reset.

No the code will stay there till reset. Jeep is of the mindset that you will not be fixing this yourself and the truck would be brought in to the dealership to fix. They would reset the code

Correct, however, surely @Free2roam has a cheap scan tool that would allow him to clear the code. I don't think he would need the dealer's tool, AlfaOBD, etc. to reset it.

So got the obd link+MX and ex(for computer). Hooked it via phone app (Bluetooth) reset code for #4 it seems to have cleared it .........buuuuut I also have another one that's open so good thing I bought all 6.
Anyone who's done the passenger side set. Did you also pull the EGR and clean it? Needs new gaskets or are they reusable?

That's why I carry 2 spares with me when traveling. You just never know when you might have 1 - 2 fail.

I wouldn't worry too much about the EGR cooler unless you really want to be proactive about maintenance. It seems that most 3rd gen EcoDiesel owners don't have any issues with the low pressure or high pressure EGR for the first 150,000. We don't have enough high mileage Jeep Gladiator EcoDiesels to know how long the EGR coolers will last. The data gets skewed since so many people delete their trucks once the 5 year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty is up. We have seen stock Ram trucks with 150,000 - 200,000 and still running the factory EGR coolers.
