No windshield would survive those situations, and likely the speed (passing) had something to do with it. We know the heat does because that's the area that has among the highest numbers of windshields crack every year - regardless of make and model.
So a Jeep passing a gravel truck spewing gravel in the heat - yup, it's gonna bust. Nothing to do with lawsuit or glass type.

Well, I don't expect anything to materialize from lawsuit and since I had similar windshield issues on my former 2010 Nissan Xterra, I wasn't very surprised. Yes, we do have issues here in the Arizona desert. However, just to clarify, I was NOT passing the gravel truck at the time. It was still way ahead of me in the right lane, while I was in the left. The driver was clipping along pretty good at ~75mpg, as was I. Oh well. Safelight, here I come, again.

Man I feel like i should play the lotto. I replaced the glass in my 2010 JKUR 3 times in the 5 years I owned it and 0 times in 36K miles and 2 years 9 months I've owned the gladiator. Knock on wood I guess!

Our windshield cracked in the parking lot for no reason- no impact mark just sitting on the phone and crack ??‍♂

In-laws did the same thing day after their hard top was installed…. Wondering if it’s a process deal for the random no impact cracking. Glass is installed then top and the tension or weight is some how contributing.
??‍♂ we haven’t replaced our cracked windshield yet. Lazy and don’t really feel like dealing with it or having to wait for it to be re-tinted again.

We have had lots of wranglers- none have spontaneously cracked like these new ones… weird

This was "a Jeep thing" long before the current models or owners, and even before the thinner, exposed edge, glue in windshields (which certainly doesn't help). This is my 5th Jeep, and they all went through windshields faster than "normal" cars and trucks. The 1995 YJ in my profile pic needs one again, and that's a rubber gasketed windshield. The only way to keep a Jeep windshield from breaking is to not use it, and even that isn't a 100% sure thing.

"Then in the Spring of 2023, he contends a gnat hit the windshield and caused a chip to develop which was filled in by an auto glass repair company."

Was it wearing a helmet?
Hey, what's the last thing to go through a gnat's head when it hits the windshield??? Its rear!

Tell that to Stormy or countless others in the news lately who lost and had to pay attorney fees.
I know, that wasn't class action. The COURT decides.

Suits like this the attorney fees come right out of what the winner gets. FCA, if they lost, would of course pay their own attorney fees.
In most class action, the court decided who pays. General rule, though, is each side pays their own. There's no law saying such but it's how it generally goes. FCA has attorneys on staff so it's not as big a deal. When I was at PFG, the entire top floor of their headquarters was the CEO and a couple other upper guys, and the rest - all attorneys. The carpet and furniture on that floor was WOW.
If memory serves, in the federal arena, there needs to be a prevailing party in order for attorney fees to be considered. If the plaintiff dismisses their suit without prejudice, then everyone goes there on way.

Jeep customer care took up my case and got me a replacement. My windshield just cracked with no impact. We were on a trip to the Mojave desert in our Mojave and at night noticed a small crack, 1 inch at the bottom, reflecting light, the next morning we got up and the crack gone across the entire windshield.

Reading this while driving I just hit an elderly man with a walker and he flipped up on the hood and hit the windshield before falling off. No cracks or chips on the windshield but his walker scratched my hood.

just kidding before anyone gets their panties in a wad.

Went probably 45 years of driving without a broken windshield. Then I bought two vehicles with almost vertical windshields: A Ford Transit van and a Gladiator. Ford made it 2 years before a break and the Jeep just about 10 months . . .

My main regret is that I did not order a backup windshield for the Jeep---took several weeks to get one.

Class action suits are funny. Lawyers would make millions, plaintiffs would get a Starbuck's gift card.

Tree farmer now. Retired first responder.
On my second windshield on my JTM, and it is now cracked.

The JT and JK and many jeep's windshields are like a phone booth. Stay away from big trucks, tractors and especially gravel trucks on the hiway.

I went through more windshields in my 2010 Xterra than I do on my Gladiator. I got a new one every year.

I literally laughed when I saw this post. I know this is old, but I highly doubt anything will come of this, nor should it.

That’s absurd that they covered that. Especially, when they refuse valid claims. I guarantee you there was a small chip somewhat spread under the right conditions. Once they grow legs, they aren’t stopping. It could have been something as simple as rain on a hot windshield.
