Was this with an OEM plastic bumper??
If so I’m impressed. Even the OEM steel bumper I wouldn’t think of as strong, not compared to like a Rock Hard or LOD or something.
Yep, oem plastic. I’m looking at the DV8 full width modular now, possibly an LOD but I’m poor and they’re high! I just barely clipped it, just couldn’t get over far enough because of traffic in the lane beside me. Here’s the only damage I can find.

Sound more like a convincing argument for better sleep habits. Or if that's not an option for you due to medical or personal conditions, a debilitating caffeine addiction.
I already have the debilitating caffeine addiction, and the exhaustion is due to work stress and a stepson who is awake while we’re sleeping because he works 2nd shift, and has no concept of how to be quiet. What I really need is a vacation!

Perfect, you already own the ultimate getaway vehicle! Grab a tent and an air mattress and go disappear. Get off the grid. Bring your wife if you want, but maybe better if you don't. You'd be amazed what even 3 days in the wilderness can do for catching up on sleep and stress reduction.

About 65-70, right around the speed limit for a change. Yeah, that’s what has me thinking I’ll get a full width winch bumper!
Glad you’re ok and it sounds like only minor damage. I have a full width warn bumper on mine that I got so I could mount a winch. While it occasionally is in the way on trails, meaning almost never, but not never, I plan to keep a full width for this reason. Mathematically, it’s just far more likely that something like this could happen, as road miles dwarf trail miles. With full width steel, it’s likely to not do much damage in comparison.

Some states stubby is illegal, more so for pedestrian then debris.

A buddy of mine keeps no-dose in his first aid kit, I thought that was a good idea. My friend said it's not what you think. He informed me it's because he is addicted to caffeine and if he doesn't get his daily coffee he gets headaches.

I’m not even sure that’s damage yet. In a good way. If it’s not bent or causing clearance issues, I’d leave it until it gets hit worse. That’s my plan for my stock rear bumper. There’s no winch on it, so why swap it out. It’s scraped up to all hell, but still works and is in the original shape. When it’s no longer viable, I’ll replace it. But I’m with you, bumpers are expensive.

The OEM steel bump did its job deflecting a near head-on last summer. The left wing was the only thing bent and needed replacing on the bumper. The whole front suspension and axle had to be replaced but that’s another story on here.
I think it could’ve been a lot worse and the other guy would’ve gone right into the front quarter end of the truck if it wasn’t for the full bumper.

The clone is okay, as is the aluminum one from I think MP Concepts. My issue is the additional parts to get what you already get out of other full size bumpers. Winch plate, hoops, light mounts, recovery hooks, etc. A nice LOD or similar would be more cost effective in my opinion.
My clone came with winch plate, hoop, light mount (used it for license plate instead), recovery hooks, and even lower recovery points that I did not use. Came in around 430 bucks, an extra 20 dollars gets you LED lights but I already had the LED package so didn’t need it. Had it powder coated white to match the Jeep for an extra $150 but not necessary.

I agree, it’s not really damaged. If I wasn’t planning to add a winch, I’d definitely leave it. The winch is a settled debate, I already could have used it once, when my stepson was dumb and got his truck stuck in a real bad spot. My last two vehicles haven’t been winch capable, or I’d already have one. Too useful for too many things in my use case scenarios.

Ouch. Glad you’re still here to comment, that could have been way worse too.

That’s what this made me realize too, full width is better for the majority of my driving. I think I’m going to go with the DV8 one clone, then I can remove the end caps for off-road while keeping more protected on road.

I’ve been mulling over modifying my full width. I’m considering cutting the wings off, then fabricating a way to remove and replace them with some strength. I think it’s doable, but I haven’t decided if I feel like the project. Always something else to do. :)

DV8 makes some nice looking stuff. I have Their Stubby bumper on my truck right now and love the look. But I will tell you this the OEM Rubicon steel bumper is more robust. I bought one on Craigslist around the same time as my DV8 because it was a good deal. And the mounting bolts that hold the bumper on are Considerably larger. And then you add a winch plate on top of that, that connects the frame rails together you have a very sturdy winch bumper. I honestly wouldn’t add a winch to my DV8 because of its wimpy Mounting bolts. But I don’t plan on adding a winch and I like the looks of the stubby. So I’m selling the Rubicon winch bumper.

IM still trying to figure out if I want to go clone or something else. Iron Bear Customs has my interest. Hard to compete with their pricing. The one thing that concerns me is the weight. I think they said 130lbs for the full length bumper.

Second belongs to Rock Hard full length aluminum. Price is sky high but it's a great bumper.

Then you get into the clones or OEM bumper. By the time I get finished adding in a tow bar on the clone, I can have the iron bear shipped to me for not much more. I want to have it powder coated locally but the clone & oem have plastic so it would have to be painted.
