Corbeau Trailcat Seats - Comfortable?

I need new seats for the truck. I currently have cloth, looking for something more comfortable that hug a little more and keep you in place, and that are easier to clean. The truck has turned into a toy, really. I no longer daily drive it, and it's primary use is for long, multi-day, 1,000+ mile trips, so long seat time.

I don't like the cloth seats for a few reasons:

1) not the most comfortable for long seat time
2) not as easy to keep clean
3) they don't secure you in the seat very well, or at least not for me
4) sick of getting electrocuted from static buildup (silly reason, but it's annoying none-the-less)


I've been looking at the Corbeau Trailcat seats. I can get them with lumbar and heaters which would be nice. They come in vinyl so easy to clean. I know they are popular amongst the offroad community. My questions are:

A) are they comfortable for longer seat time?
B) how wide are they at the bolsters? I'm 5' 9" and 180lbs, and most OEM seats that have bolsters are a little too wide for me.

I've also been watching marketplace for OEM seats out of another vehicle that I could swap in. Making them fit isn't an issue, I can fab up almost anything. Disabling airbag light and wiring in heaters isn't an issue, I can wire almost anything. Theres a few BMW 3 series sport seats which I know are a great fit, but being a sedan seat I'm not sure how well they'll work for the seating position of a truck, or if they'll look too out of place.

Just have your seats rebuilt to your want list, by a good upholstery shop, don’t over complicate the changes your looking for. New correctly fitted foam, with the density that soots your needs. Bolsters fitted to Your rear and a good quality leather will serve you well over countless miles.

Have you sat down or driven in a Mojave? Those are actually pretty comfy as far as keeping the buttocks in place. That way it’d just be swapping in factory cushions and some covers. Leather may be an option there but not sure. Other than that the only “racing” type seat I’ve planted myself in for an off-road vehicle have been the PRP and they were pretty comfy. Not sure for the long haul but they didn’t allow my body to move around a lot.

I've had a few sets of Corbeau seats over the years and they've always impressed me. Didn't have the Trailcat seats but did have the Moab seats. Never uncomfortable on the street, over long distances, or on trails. As a FYI, they make brackets for the JT if you want to eliminate fabrication and I'm betting the seat heater wiring can be spliced into the seat heater switches if your JT is so equipped. I've had Corbeau seats with the bolster set-up as well and they worked great, didn't leak, and inflated quite a bit. It's similar to a blood pressure cuff as it is a pump bulb with a twist valve to deflate.

All of the seats on their website have a picture showing the measurements. Can use that to do a quick comparison between them and the OEM seats for bolster, width, height, etc.

Those trailcats look nice. During our trip to Moab both the wife and I agreed that about the only thing the Jeep really needed was better seats with good side bolsters.

I have had the Corbeau Baja seat in my JKURR. Great seat for comfort. Fitment with rig an issue.

Seat heaters do not interface with the Jeep CanBus system. need to be wired to 12 vdc source and Ground. If you want to use the Jeep switches, you can either disassemble the seat and remove the heaters and put them in the Corbeau seats or buy new and install. Drive side seat mounting is no issue, the passenger side as some funky seat belt restraining system that need to be install on the Corbeau. It is a PITA, plus there is a weight on seat sensor that need to be in the base of the Corbeau seat.
Also with me height is an issue the Corbeau seats for my JKURR were 1-1.5 inches higher than OEM. forced me to modify the mounts to fit my 6'5" frame inside. With the JTRD with less head room a seat that sits higher is show stopper for me.

If you are going to pop for new seat, get some that have the "suspension" function. Basically they help reduce you getting bounced around in the rocks. Corbeau has a line of them

Theres a guy semi-local to me selling some yr old Baja seats for a good price. But without heat and lumbar, so I'm on the fence.

Heated seats are really just a nice-to-have at this point, and I'm not concerned about wiring to a switch. The air bag and passenger sensors are my concern. I know the air bag light can be bypassed, don't know much on the passenger sensor or the belt restraint. I imagine the passenger sensor could be bypassed to just think theres always someone there.

Do the Baja ever feel bouncy? I just think back to 1980s and 1990s trucks with spring loaded bench seats and how they felt bouncy.

Which ones did you go with? I admit I peek over that fence from time to time. They usually clean the fence so the drool doesn’t hurt production.

I went with Endurotrails i guess is what they are called now. Few years ago it was just "enduro" lol. Ill get some pictures to send you if youd like.

They fit perfectly and everything stock works as it should (seatbelt, airbag light once i stop being lazy, heated seats).

My wife hates the jeep (she drives a LR Defender with air suspension lol). But after these seats she was ok with riding around in it.

For long trips for me (driving from Florida to Pennsylvania and back) the seats were fantastic. Previously my back would hurt, my butt, etc. Now that happens rarely. Although after some years in the driver seat I think I need new foam for the butt portion. It isnt as supportive as it used to be. But itll be easy to replace.
