This is worth a watch. Though the guy says the repair is one and done, I’m sure workmanship is covered. It does a good job of explaining hinge corrosion, but I still don’t get why other corrosion happens.

Awesome - thanks for that Mark.

Thanks for that. Hope they know what they are doing. It sounded like they do a lot of these fixes so we might be in good shape.
just make sure they replace the panels. Two of our JLs had corrosion. The first dealership just painted over it. I fought with JeepCares for four months on getting it done right. JeepCares was absolutely useless. Beyond useless. The second dealership decided to take up the battle with them, got it paid for, and properly replaced all the panels.

According to the new dealership, if the corrosion is just on the hinge, all they do is replace that hinge (one door was like that). On that one door, the corrosion didn’t spread to the panel itself. Like everything, it’s the dealership you work with. Some suck. Others suck more. From time to time, you find a good one.

I just had my JT repaired for the 2nd time. Hood was bubbling again, took it in and the dealership i went to found it on the windshield frame and hinges, all doors, and tailgate. They replaced the tailgate and repaired and painted basically the whole jeep but the grill and bedsides. Being this is the 2nd time its happened I don't think this will be the last. June is my dead line for my paint warranty and even though I love my JT, I am at a point if it re-appears on me, this thing is getting traded in. I am just hoping its all taken care of now.

You had a warranty repair done. Why did you “fire a shop” for not giving you the original parts back? You aren’t entitled to original parts when warranty repairs are completed. In many cases, they are returned for core charges.

I want to get mine done, sides of the hood and door hinges are bad but being a 2020 I think I’m past the warranty period.
One year after the warranty is up there is time for a one-time "good will" extension where Mopar covers 70-90%.

Morning everyone,

What’s preventing the corrosion from coming back after the parts are replaced? Dealership just said “nothing stops it from coming back”

I just dropped off my JT to get the hood, doors and tailgate replaced under the corrosion warranty.

Mopar says hood is to be replaced. The original sealant between the two hood pieces traps moisture.
