Running Pennzoil Euro 5w40 euro spec and no issues on mine... I'm also about to be fully deleted. Not quite sure what I'm going to run after deleting it honestly. Need to do more research on that since I don't care about the DPF at that point.

T6 if you can get it. Its the industry standard. But in todays age you can't really go wrong.

Looking to extend DPF lifespan. The newer lower SAPS oils do that but Jeep calls for the opposite. I am unable to find what exactly ms12991 is, what are the specifications? I have found "1" motor oil that satisfies 12991 and is Mid level SAPS.

https://www.motul.com/en-US/products/17700?product=MOTUL+8100+X-CLEAN+5W-40

Owners manual calls for Mopar oil or similar A3/B4 and ms12991 (full SAPS). It seems DPF must not be an important factor if the cloggiest oil there is is what is required.
I've been running this exact oil since my Jeep wave 3 free oil change was done. A hair over 52k currently and change it every 7k. I have never had the oil analysis done. No DPF issues as of yet.

Which exact oil? Mopar or Motul?

So far, Amsoil MS and HPL has shown to be the best oil for the Gen 3 EcoDiesel, but the XClean Gen2 isn't too far behind those two oils.

Going to try to keep this very simple.

Regarding EcoDiesel oil changes. Logic tells me to extend the life of the DPF as much as possible. Logic tells Jeep to use "High SAPS" oil which decreases DPF lifespan. The apparent logic of using High Saps oil is to get more mileage out of the oil, thereby, less oil changes. I do 5,000-6,000 mile oil changes regardless of the 10K changes that jeep prescribes with their synthetic oil.

So, if I am doing shorter intervals on oil changes, should I be concerned about potentially more "wear" from using a "Mid SAPS" oil?

I like AMSOIL for diesels historically but they do not meet any requirements that I can find. It sounds like AMSOIL is a "MID SAPS" oil as is MOTUL (MOTUL is MS-12991)
AMSOIL apparently met the MS-12991 requirement back in 2012 or 2013 but do not label for it.

Any thoughts from EcoDiesel owners that have done a few oil changes?
Any good info on the oil filter? They are telling me it’s a $150 filter.

Now this doesn't mean T6 isn't low SAPS, it totally could be but Shell didn't bother to put in for the rating, cus ratings cost money.
When low-ash oil was developed back in 2006, the industry set a limit to mandate a maximum sulfated ash of 1% for all CJ-4 spec oils. So, there was no requirement to list "low ash" on the oil bottles when we know that all CK-4 oils are below 1%.

For those who are worried about SAPS, I have started a list of suitable oils for the Gen 3 EcoDiesel. In this short list, you can see why Amsoil MS will be superior for DPF longevity.
