One FCC license does not work across the board. Each radio service is a different license so you would need to pay the FCC for a GMRS license or take a amateur radio test for an amateur radio license.
I think it is a common impression that a ham license is valid for GMRS, but as prerunner says, it is a separate license although no test is required for GMRS.
Sad part is all hams should know the band plan and no where in the band plan does GMRS show up.
As others said get on the FCC site pay the $70 for 10 years and be done with it. The radio listed above is a CCR that was rebranded for Daystar. Many are doing this. Go with the midland if you want a quick easy unit.
