Debating on a new Gladiator and have some questions

I agree that any extra cooling in most cases is a good thing.

With that said even when pushed hard towing, the gas Gladiators don't seem to have trouble cooling. The diesels do.

I really wanted the diesel for the torque, but the reliability steered me clear of that. If all else fails......hemi swap the bitch. My good buddy is a SRT subject matter expert

Never owned a Jeep. Live in Ny. Have one car because never needed a second.

Now wife and I have a kid and we are running into scenarios of needing a second vehicle. I want something to take Off-road and camping. Tacoma steering felt cheap IMO, I test drove a rubicon gladiator and a LR defender. Defender was comfortable but I like the versatility of the Jeep for getting mulch and stuff.

A rubicon seems like it’s got all I would need. Would it even make sense to look at overland and add the shocks/suspension/lift? Would I save money doing that?

also, there’s a ton of gladiators near me for sale, two dealers I know locally have a combined 31. And with 2023 coming out, how much can we shoot for On discount? One rubi I’m looking at is $58. $55 seem plausible?

I purchased the Rubicon over the Overland since I liked the extra lift, bigger tires, I think the fenders are higher, Skid plates, etc. The overland didn't have as tough of a stance as the Rubicon. The overland is geared towards people who want a more refined on road experience. I was told alot of Wives enjoy the Overland over the Rubicon. I did like the overland, it's super nice but I'm still glad I purchased the Rubicon even though I've done a bunch of Mods since purchase.

Unless you are talking about the air dam under the front bumper, all models have the same skid plates.

Just on the front bumper. The Sport has the same plastic air dam under the front bumper. That can be mitigated by adding the Rubicon bumper, or adding an aftermarket bumper with non-plastic "skid plate".

If you want to save some scratch, though you didn't mention money being a concern, the Willys trim with the tow package is a winner. Great appearance and well appointed without the 60K price tag. And since you've yet to own a Jeep... Leather seats seem like a great idea, but if you're going to take the doors and top off on the regular, as I do, I highly recommend cloth. I've put my forearm on the leather armrest and WHOA! Glad I'm not sitting on that! A sunny 80+ degree day and leather seats become frying pans.

It is dressed out with electric door locks remote start cruise control and many other options. Removable hard too and roof panels. Love it.

After all the money I spent on the Willys for Rubicon flares, lift and a decent radio it would have been cheaper to go Rubicon from the get go - installing gears and lockers alone will be around 5k if you have a shop do it (parts and labor). Good lifts start around $3k and then fender flares are $1k (to clear bigger tires). IMO Rubicon with cold weather package and led lighting is the way to go.

If you plan to do serious off roading the Rubicon is the clear choice. Lockers, sway bar disconnect, higher fenders, a 4:1 transfer case and other goodies make it much more capable.

If you only plan minor off roading, maybe not worth spending the money.
