5G Ford Rangers, which have nearly identical Dana advantek 44 on the rear as the Gladiator, have had the right rear axle leak issue since 2019. They also produced the Ranger driveshaft and it's been equally as crappy of a part from them. Too bad.
Wow...had not heard of that.,......this is truly ridiculous.

Hey all,
I also had this issue, just picked the truck back up from service after 2 weeks. My leak was fairly bad, it was running down the tire when stopped and slinging all over the fender liner when driving. They replaced the axle, same as everyone here.

I have two questions as all this is new to me:
1. What exactly was leaking from the axle? Is that oil coming from the differential? The transmission? Is there anything I should check on to refill or see if levels are low?
2. The service rep said that there's no need for a realignment after the axle replacement. Is this true?

It's gear oil from your axle and differential. No need for a re-alignment. If you take the filler plug off, and put your finger in, oil should be near the top of the hole. Some will likely spill out when you take the plug off. If it does, it's full.

Just received an update on my gladiator right rear axle oil leak. So somehow, there is metal in the rear axle.... I'm now getting a brand new rear axle with approx 3,000 miles on my truck. Hopefully the new rear axle doesn't leak.
2,000 miles later on the loaner cherokee, I finally picked up my truck.

Dropped of 2/12 picked up 3/23.
Evidently and not surprised, it took more than a month to get the axle assembly.

Parts replaced:
68474058AB - Axle service rear
68471168AA - Axle shaft
6833869AE - Axle hose vent
And oil of course

Quick search of that part number and comes up for wranglers.

I had mine replaced and part number was 68471168AA.

Not sure if wrangler axel shafts are compatible with gladiator shafts.

Edit: Just confirmed on the mopar site that it can be used on gladiators 68474094-AA

Looks like an older version I suppose or maybe I have the older version ??‍♂

Lol yep saw that too and made an edit on my post.

Can't help but wonder what the difference is between the 2 part numbers.
Which is the latest and greatest is the question I have now

You might be better off with a 2020 version - so far, I've not seen signs that the 2020 had a problem.... ;-)

Unreal. Mine is starting to seep again now that the weather is getting warmer.... after being repaired twice already (two new shaft assemblies).

This time its like it would only leak in the wheel stopped at a certain spot. I noticed it 800 miles after the 3rd attempt. There was a oil spot on the inside wheel. I wipped every thing off and kept a eye on it, and it was dry for about 3 weeks, then one day i noticed a drip on the inside of the wheel again. So i dunno.

Is the dreaded axle seal leak a problem with 2022 models or did they figure it out in 2021?
